Ida Jane Himmelman 2004 Halifax Chronicle Herald >From the collection of Charlene Veinotte Ida Jane Himmelman, 92, Broad Cove, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 21, 2004, in South Shore Regional Hospital in Bridgewater. Born in the family home at Broad Cove on March 31, 1912, she was the youngest daughter of the late Frederick and Annie Vogler and the granddaughter of the late Josiah and Augusta Vogler. Ida was proud to have resided in the family home all of her life until entering hospital a few months ago. She was grateful for many friends and neighbours, specifically Goldie and Bud Martin and Adele Herman, whose assistance enabled her to continue to live in her own home these past few years. She worked as one of the first telephone operators in LaHave and was the secretary of St. Matthew's Church for more than 50 years. Ida was also a long serving member of St. Matthew's U.C.W. and a choir member. She will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humour and love of life. She was predeceased by her husband, Harry Himmelman and by her beloved "Tibby." She was also predeceased by sisters, Muriel, Helen, Florella, Gladys, Hester, and Marguerite; and her only nephew, Fred W. Arenburg, Petite Riviere. She is survived by her great-nephew, David Arenburg (Elizabeth), Yarmouth; great-nieces, Linda Arenburg (Bob Veniott), Amherst; and Susan Arenburg (Lee Flemming), Pugwash, as well as many great great-nephews and nieces. Funeral service will be held on Friday, September 24, in St. Matthew's United Church, Broad Cove at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Karen Ohrt officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery, Broad Cove. Donations may be made to St. Matthew's United Church, Broad Cove or a charity of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to Sweeny's Funeral Home, Bridgewater. No visitation by request.
