Douglas Roy Young 2001 Halifax Chronicle Herald Published: Tuesday, September 25, 2001. >From the collection of Gwen Christie Douglas Roy Young, 78, Tancook Island, died September 24, 2001, in Fishermen's Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg. Born on Tancook Island, he was the son of the late Clarence B. and Nellie (Baker) Young. He was a retired fisherman and a member of Tancook United Baptist Church. Surviving are son, Terry; daughter, Heather (Lorne) O'Holloran; granddaughters, Laura (Peter) Douglas, Krista, all of Dartmouth; sister, Geraldine McLean, Halifax; nephews, Clarence McLean, Toronto; Tyrone McLean, Moncton. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Joan Cross. Visitation 2-4 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in Davis Funeral Home, Chester. Funeral service 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Tancook United Baptist Church, Rev. Barry Dixon officiating. Burial in Tancook Island Cemetery. Family flowers only. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Tancook United Baptist Church or 911 Emergency Response Team. Refreshments will be served prior to and after the service in the Recreation Centre. Ferry service will leave Chester at 10:30 a.m. and leave the island at 4:30 p.m.
