Outlook - Thursday, 22 August 1940 - Page 3 - Mrs. Irving E. Leonard - South Greenwood, Aug. 12 - On Thursday morning, August 8th at the Western Kings Memorial Hospital, Berwick, the Angel of Death unexpectedly called a well-known member of our community in the person of Ivy Maud, wife of Irving E. Leonard, at the age of forty-five years. The late Mrs. Leonard had been in her usual good health until Tuesday, when a throat infection laid her low. An operation was performed on Thursday. She failed to recover. Her sudden passing was indeed a shock to her many friends. Besides her husband, there are left to mourn the loss of a devoted and unselfish mother, three children, Irene, Mrs. Enoch Robar of Tremont; Reginald and Avard at home. Also surviving are her aged mother, Mrs. William Rice and a sister, Mrs. R.R. Smith of East Dalhousie. A brother William lives at Havelock, Ont. The funeral was held on Sunday from her late home, with burial at Greenwood cemetery. The services were conducted by her pastor, the Rev. Wallis. The pallbearers were, Messrs Arleigh Banks, Elmer Pearson, Bertram Morse, Lloyd Morse, Alfred Spinney, Lewis MacMaster. Covering the casket were masses of beautiful flowers attesting to the esteem in which she was held.
