    3. UNKNOWN PAPER - DR. DANIEL MURRAY July 16, 1967. Dr. Daniel MURRAY Passes at Bayhead. Tatamagouche - Daniel MURRAY M.D., C.M. (better known as Dr. Dan) for over 50 years a doctor in Tatamagouche died at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J.B. FERGUSON, Bayhead on Sunday afternoon, July 16. One of the oldest and most highly respected citizens of this community he was born in Meadowville, Pictou County in 1876. In his earlier years he attended Pictou Academy where he won the first Tupper Medal. He taught school in Tatamagouche in 1896, after which he studied at Dalhousie. He played on the championship football team and won the broad jump medallion in 1902. He practiced medicine in Pictou with his brother Duncan and later settled in Tatamagouche. During the First World War, he was overseas with the Medical Corps. He was a member of Sharon United Church and was president of the Nova Scotia Medical Association for two terms. The late Dr. MURRAY received an "Honorary Doctor of Laws Degree" from Dalhousie University and a special Citizenship Award from the late King George V. In 1907 he married Norma CARSON of Pictou who predeceased him three years ago. He is survived by two sons Dr. J. Carson MURRAY, Springhill and Donald of Toronto; two daughters (Ethel) Mrs. J. Burt LIVINGSTON, Toronto, and Elizabeth (Betty) Halifax; and eleven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Funeral services were held this afternoon in Sharon United Church Tatamagouche at 2 o'clock. Interment was in Sharon Cemetery.
