OBIT # 8107 - EVENING NEWS - 18 JUNE 1962 Lourdes- Donald Thompson of this community passed away in the Aberdeen Hospital Saturday morning after an illness of two months. He had entered the hospital Friday. Born in Stellarton, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Thompson and would have been 83 in July. He served overseas with the Forestry Corps in the First World War, and had been a fireman with the Acadia Coal Company, working at the Allan Shaft and the Albion. He retired 12 years ago. Mr. Thompson was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 34, New Glasgow. He is survived by three sisters, Miss Catherine Thompson of Cambridge, Mass.; Mrs. Alfred Kirby of New Jersey and Mrs. Caroline Lennon, Stellarton; and three brothers, David, William and Howard, all of Stellarton. The remains rested at the home of his brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Thompson, Lourdes, and the funeral was held from there at 1:30 today, with Rev. D.C. Boothroyd of Sharon St. John United Church officiating. Burial was in Duff cemetery.
