Gerald Roland Broome 2002 Halifax Chronicle Hearld Published: Friday, December 9, 2002. >From the collection of Gwen Christie Gerald Roland Broome, 76, New Russell, passed away peacefully, Saturday, December 7, 2002, in Harbour View Haven Home for Special Care, Lunenburg, after a brave fight with injuries sustained in a farming accident. Born December 3, 1926, in New Russell, he was a son of the late Harry and Eva (Rafuse) Broome. He was a lifelong resident of New Russell and was an avid farmer with a passion for horses and oxen. He was a guide at the Ross Farm Museum for 13 years and after retiring remained active on the family farm. He is survived by his wife, Leodia (Redden); sons, Reid (Carolann) Broome, Halifax; Cameron Broome, New Russell; daughter, Michele Broome, New Russell; grandchildren, Mathias Payne, Samuel Payne, Neal Broome, Thomas Payne, Anastasia Payne; sister, Elta (Rettie) Crossman, Burton, New Brunswick; brother, Ira (Ethel), New Ross; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters, Evelyn Legge, Lois Fletcher; brothers, Harold and Arnold Broome. Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in H.C. Lindsay Funeral Home, New Ross. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday in New Ross United Baptist Church, Rev. David Hine officiating. Interment in United Baptist Ceemtery, New Ross. A reception to follow in New Ross Legion Hall. Donations may be made to the Harbour View Haven Home for Special Care, United Baptist Church, Ross Farm Museum or a charity of choice.
