Joseph Kenneth Lohnes 2005 Halifax Chronicle Herald >From the collection of Charlene Veinotte Joseph Kenneth Lohnes, 72, Martin's River, passed away Friday, December 23, 2005, in Mahone Nursing Home, Mahone Bay. Born in Halifax, he was the son of the late Joseph Osborne and Dorothy (Blackmore) Lohnes Sr. Joseph was a longshoreman who worked for 38 years at the Halifax Waterfront. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed camping, hunting, and fishing. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He is survived by his wife, the former Beatrice Rose Zwicker; daughter, Dorothy Ann Lohnes and companion Dan Keddy, Mahone Bay; son, Jai Max Lohnes and companion Patricia Ottaway, Martin's Point; and grandchildren, Vernon and Tiffany. He was predeceased by sisters, Joyce Elliott, Moncton and Mildred Kosecke, California. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, Lunenburg. By family request, there will be no memorial service or interment. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, Canadian Diabetes Association or a charity of your choice.
