Roy William Barkhouse 2005 Halifax Chronicle Herald >From the collection of Charlene Veinotte Roy William Barkhouse, 85, Martin's Point, passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2005, in Harbour View Haven Home for Special Care, Lunenburg. Born at Martin's Point, he was a son of trhe late Alexander and Jennie (Barkhouse) Barkhouse. Roy was a jack-of-all trades; he worked as a carpenter all of his life and repaired small engines. He loved the outdoors, fishing, gardening, and enjoying his family. As a hobby, he carved wooden ducks. Roy was always willing to lend a hand to his neighbours. He was a man with a gentle soul who will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by sons, Oral (Denise Forand), Martin's Point; Bradley (Ann), Tantallon; Daniel (Erica Allen), Mason's Beach; and their mother, Gloria Martin, Mader's Cove; sisters, Julia Barkhouse, Martin's Point; Joy (Carl) Davidson, Windsor; brothers, Rueben Barkhouse, Rodney Barkhouse, both of Martin's Point; grandchildren, Katrina and Paige Barkhouse; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Arthur, Ralph, Russell, and Hudson. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, Lunenburg, with visitation Thursday from 7-9 p.m. and where the memorial service will be held Friday at 1 p.m., Archdeacon Duane Tanswell officiating. Interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Harbour View Haven or a charity of your choice.
