Florence Laura Eisenhauer 2000 Halifax Chronicle Herald Published: Saturday, July 1, 2000. >From the collection of Gwen Christie Florence Laura Eisenhauer, 94, Lunenburg, died Thursday, June 29, 2000, in the Fishermen's Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg. Born in Lunenburg, she was a daughter of the late John Albert and Stella (Rafuse) Lohnes. In her earlier years, she was a correspondent for the Bridgewater Bulletin and later worked at Burns' Ice Cream Parlour for many years. She also was a registrar for marriage licenses for the province of Nova Scotia. She was a former member of St. John's Anglican Church, Lunenburg, leader of the Boys Chorus and was a former president of the Ladies Aid. Florence later transferred her membership to Central United Church, Lunenburg and was choir director for many years and a member of the Mary Gormley Unit of the UCW. She was leader of the Lunenburg Academy High School Chorus and a member of the Lunenburg Glee Club. Florence was a founding member of the Fishermen's Memorial Hospital, Ladies Auxiliary, Lunenburg. She was a member of the Bluenose Senior Citizens Club and the Women's Institute. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by nieces and nephews, Patricia Rhuland, Dean's Corner; Catherine Demone, Lunenburg; Roy Lohnes, Western Shore; Ruth Naas, Bridgewater; George Cooper, Lunenburg. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles R. Eisenhauer; brother, Douglas (Carter) Lohnes. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, Lunenburg. Family visitation 3:15-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Sunday. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday in Central United Church, Lunenburg, Rev. Grace Caines-Corkum officiating. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, Fishermen's Memorial Hospital, or Central United Church, Lunenburg.
