UNKNOWN PAPER - CARL AUGUSTUS PURDY August 16, 1981. Tatamagouche - Carl Augustus PURDY 75 of Truro Road Tatamagouche died Sunday in Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital. Born in Little River, Cumberland County, he was the son of the late Arthur and Maude (TERRICE) PURDY. He was a retired teacher having held positions in elementary schools as vice principle and principal in various parts of the province since 1925. He served four years as Educational Officer in the RCAF retiring with the rank of Flying Officer. After retiring from service with Armdale School board Halifax Co., in 1968 he taught in the adult education and upgrading schools in Stephenville, NFLD. He also taught in the provincial Vocational Institute in Charlottetown P.E.I. He was an Oddfellow, a member of the Retired Teachers Association and the American Association of Industrial Arts Teacher, a life member of the Nova Scotia Industrial Arts Teachers Association, and a member of the Salem United Church, Tatamagouche Mountain, where he served as a steward. He is survived by his wife the former Margaret LANGILLE, two daughters Ruth (Mrs. William HARRIS), Halifax and Willa (Mrs. Fred B. POOLE), Bridgewater, Lunenburg Co., two sons, Henry, Charlottetown, and Daniel, Lake Echo, two brothers Ivan, Lower Onslow, Col. Co., and Layton, Dartmouth, a sister Mrs. Margery MacDONALD, Hamilton, Ont. 12 grandchildren and a great grandson. He was predeceased by four brothers, Lawrence, Burton, Halsey, and Rufus. The body is in Coulter's Funeral Home, Tatamagouche. Funeral will be held Tuesday in Salem United Church Tatamagouche Mountain Rev. Morley BENTLEY officiating with burial in the Bell Gift Cemetery, West New Annan.
