OBIT # 8183- EVENING NEWS - 13 FEB 1973 Stellarton- Mrs. Arthur Whyte, 100 North Foord St., one of this town's most respected senior citizens, died Monday at the Aberdeen Hospital at the age of 87. She was the former Etta Louise Smith, daughter of the late George and Agnes (Cruickshank) Smith.She had been a resident of Iron Ore, for over 40 years and for the past fifteen years had made her home here where she was well and widely known. She was a former member of St. Paul's Presbyterian Church, East River, and for many years a member of First Presbyterian Church here. Mrs. Whyte was a Life Member of the WMS of the Presbyterian Church in Canada and a valued member of the Senior WMS of First Church here. She is survived by her husband, three daughters, Gladys (Mrs. Clarence Best,Sr.), Ethel (Mrs. Laurel Flinton), both of New Glasgow, Vivian Joyce (Mrs. Harvey Ryan), RR1, Westville; a son, George, St. Catherine's , Ont.; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Hiram, Country Harbor and Lindsay, Hopewell. She was predeceased by a daughter, Ruth, several sisters and one brother. The remains will rest at the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Home after 7 o'clock this evening and the funeral will be held from there on Thursday at 2 p.m. with the interment to follow in Sunnybrae Cemetery.
