Richard Malone 2000 Halifax Chronicle Herald Published: Monday, April 17, 2000. >From the collection of Gwen Christie Richard "Little Hib"Malone, 43, Liverpool, died suddenly Friday, April 14, 2000, in Queens General Hospital, Liverpool. Born in Liverpool, he was the loving son of Hibbert and Josie (Fisher) Malone, Liverpool. He was an employee of Mersey Seafoods Limited of Liverpool, having worked there for over 25 years. He was an avid Toronto Maple Leafs fan and loved to play hockey himself. He was goaltender for the "Greens," a local hockey team. He was referred to as the goalie "with the one eye" as he lost his left eye to an accident many years before. Many who played against him were amazed at how well he was able to compensate for his loss. He loved to hunt and spend time at his cabin as well as travel the woods on his ATV. He was an avid handliner fisherman and owned his own boat. He will be sadly missed and will be in our hearts forever. Surviving besides his parents are his loving sisters, Janice and her husband Rocky Lowe and Karen, Liverpool. He was a wonderful uncle to his nieces, Nicole, Holly, and Natalie; and nephews, Walter and Daniel, all of Liverpool. He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Lovett and Evelyn (Whynot) Malone; and his maternal grandparents, Pearle Tenny and Laura (Roy) Fisher; his sister, Laura Lee; and brother, Calvin. Visitation will be held today, April 17, from 2-4 p.m., 7-9 p.m., funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 18, at 11 a.m., all in Chandlers' Funeral Chapel Liverpool, Rev. Wayne Murphy officiating. Burial will be in Zion United Cemetery, Payzant Street, Liverpool. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to any charity.
