Brown - Kingston, Dec. 21 - Little Beth Merleen Brown fell asleep in Jesus at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harley Brown, Tremont, December 7, 1953, after a lengthy illness. She was 23 months of age, having been born at Dawson Memorial Hospital, Bridgewater, January 2, 1951. She is survived by her parents and two sisters, Valerie, age 3, and Margo, nine months. The funeral was held at her late home Dec. 9, and was conducted by Rev. A.G.J. Steeves. Hymns sung were: "Jesus Loves Me" and "Safe in the Arms of Jesus." Interment was in Tremont Cemetery. Welch, 79, of Tremont, formerly of Wolfville, died Wednesday in Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Diligent River, she was the former Evelyn Beatrice Canning, a daughter of the late Henry and Jessica (Baxter) Canning. She was a former member of Wolfville Baptist Church, the choir, a member of the I.O.D.E., a former member of the Sweet Adeline Barber Shoppers. She was a retired retail merchant, Evelyn's Ladies and Children's Wear, Wolfville, and former member of the University Choral group. Surviving besides her husband are a son Ronald, Tremont; two brothers, Hedley, Londonderry; Earl, Newton Mills; two sisters, Frances (Mrs. Wilfred Wier), Windsor; Mrs. Irene Spicer, Parrsboro; and a grandchild. She was predeceased by three brothers, Chapman, Emerson and Presley, a sister Marguerite, and a granddaughter. The body is at Warren T. Roop Funeral Home, Middleton, Funeral service will be Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in Tremont Baptist Church, Rev. John Leddicote officiating. Burial will be in Tremont cemetery.
