Shirley Corkum 2005 Halifax Chronicle Herald >From the collection of Charlene Veinotte Shirley Corkum, 72, East Chester, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, November 26, 2005. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late Margaret and Hugh Graves. She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Almon (Corky) Corkum; her daughter, Patricia McMullon (Jim Bates) and son, Christopher Corkum (Judith Redden), all of Chester; grandsons, Timothy McMullon, Red Deer; and Joseph McMullon, Halifax. She will be greatly missed by her loving family, sisters, Aileen (Nehad) Matuk, Bakersfield, California; Helene (Bob) Vinckers, Richmond, British Columbia; Carol Selig (Barry Zwicker), Kentville; brothers, Richard (Rose) Graves, Bridgewater; Hugh Graves, Kingston; sisters-in-law, Mary (Louie) Wetherell, Meteghan; Jean Herget, Kentville; brothers-in-law, Lenard (Maureen) Walker, Hall's Harbour; Murray Jordan, Dartmouth; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her mother and father, Margaret and Hugh Graves; sisters,Margaret, Lila, and Gloria; mother and father-in-law, Gladys and Paul Walker; sister-in-law, Carol and infant son, Murray Corkum. Many people called her friend and she will be sadly missed in the community. Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in Davis Funeral Home, Chester. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday in Chester United Baptist Church with Rev. Virginia Cookman and Rev. Dan Green officiating. Burial in St. Peter's Lutheran Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Peter's Lutheran Church.
