William John McLain 2000 Halifax Chronicle Herald >From the collection of Gwen Christie William John McLain, 83, Bridgewater, died November 29, 2000, in the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater, after a lengthy illness. Born in West Clifford, he was a son of the late Caleb and Annie (Perkins) McLain. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Bridgewater. He was a veteran, having served in the Canadian Army. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 24, Bridgewater. Survived by his wife, the former Naomi Crouse (Steen) McLain; sisters, Flora Baker, Baker Settlement; Esther Bond, Bridgewater; brothers, Leander, LeRoy, both of Newcombville; Walter, Bridgewater; Harry, Pine Grove, Sidney, British Columbia; stepchildren, John (Joan) Oickle, West Northfield; Barry (Heather) Oickle, Coldbrook; David (Angela) Oickle, Dean's Settlement; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by second wife, Muriel; infant sister, Daisy. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today in R.A. Corkum Funeral Home, Wileville. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Bridgewater, Rev. James Slack Jr. officiating. Burial in Maple Grove Cemetery, Chelsea. Immediate family flowers only.
