Mary Elizabeth Smith 2008 Halifax Chronicle Herald Published: Wednesday, August 13, 2008. >From the collection of Gwen Christie Mary Elizabeth Smith, 75, Pleasant River, Queens County, passed away suddenly at home with her husband by her side. Born in Hamilton, Ontario, she was a daughter of the late James and Irene (Clarke) MacRae. Mary worked for 17 years at Stewart, McKeen & Covert in Halifax and later with Alan Ferrier until retirement. She was a lover of all animals and adopted many strays from the Shaid Tree Animal Shelter. Surviving are her husband, Randy "Bubba," daughters, Marlene (Joe) Colp, Wilmot; Dale Wamback (Mike Yahnke), Greenwood; Janice Braid (Ron Beach), Kingston, Ontario; son, Larry ,North Brookfield; brother, James (Bev) MacRae; sister, Carol Bennett (Ross), both of Hamilton; grandchildren, Lorraine Mansfield (Allan); Theresa Wamback (Sonny); Melissa Colp (Chris); Nicholas Watts; great-grandchildren, Dane, Gage, and nephews. She was loved dearly and will be sadly missed by her family and everyone who knew her. She also leaves behind her best friends, Abby and Boots. A private family service will be held in R.A. Corkum Funeral Home, Wileville, at a later date, Rev. Willis Ott officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Shaid Tree Animal Shelter.
