    3. Rene Thomas Scott 2007 Halifax Chronicle Herald Published: Monday, October 15, 2007. >From the collection of Gwen Christie Rene Thomas Scott, 68, died October 12, 2007. Rene was born in Barrington, a son of Thomas and Ella (Lamrock) Scott. He is survived by his daughter, Sherri Lynn Wilson and granddaughter, Amanda, Peterborough; former wife, Carole Jean Scott; brothers, Everett, Stanley (Betty), Fred (Trudy), Phillip; sisters, Barbara Bent (Bill), Audrey Guild (Don), Carole Wilson (Al), Lillian Perry (Mervyn), Patricia Hudson, Ruth MacLeod; special niece, Donna Carter, whom he regarded as a sister, and many other nieces and nephews who loved and admired him. Rene will be remembered for his friendship and warmth. His interest in community and social events will long be appreciated. He was a life member of the Nova Scotia Guides Association into which he poured much of his time and passion. He was a member of the local fire department, a long-time and very active worker for the Barrington Fair, and was a dedicated worked for Christmas Daddies. He was announcer for all of the above activities plus many other community events. Rene enjoyed dressing in costume and entertaining. He was an avid camper. At his firepo ce, he welcomed anyone who would stop by for coffee and companionship. Rene was a professional meatcutter and turned his hand to many other vocations and skills. An early employment was as a crew member on the Oceanographic ship, Vema, out of New York, as told in his book, "R.V. Vema, a Seaman's Journal." Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be in Huskilson's Funeral Home on Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. Feel welcome to share recollections at this time. Graveside service will be held in Riverdale Cemetery for family and friends on Wednesday at 2 p.m. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to Victorian Order of Nurses, Riverdale Cemetery Fund, Wesley United Church Building Fund, Food Bank, Barrington, Goodwill Club, Barrington, Christmas Daddies, or a charity of your choice.
