    3. Subject: Ramey, Gordon D. Gordon D. Ramey 2009 Halifax Chronicle Herald >From the collection of Charlene Veinotte Gordon D. Ramey, 94, of North Queens Nursing Home, Caledonia, formerly of Greenfield, passed away peacefully in North Queens Nursing Home, April 23, 2009. Born in Wellington, Queens County, he was a son of the late Hastings and Lily (Hirtle) Ramey. Gordon was a veteran of the Second World War, serving in Newfoundland with the 103rd. Coast Battery. He was a school bus driver and mechanic for 24 years and was a member of Greenfield United Baptist Church before transferring his membership to Buckfield United Baptist Church. He was a former superintendent of Greenfield United Baptist Church Sunday School and an honourary member of the Greenfield Fire Department. Surviving besides his wife, Ivy (Fraser) are his daughter, Esther Ward of Greedfield and his son, Ronald (Kathryn) of Greenfield; grandchildren, June (Dwane) Lawson, Trevor (Lisa) Ramey, and Nicholas Ramey, all of Greenfield; great-granddaughter, Brooke Lawson and step great-grandchildren, Kelsey, Shelby, and Kayla Freeman; his brother, Irvin (Geraldine) of Bridgewater. He was predeceased by his sisters, Muriel Freeman and Dena and brother, Milton. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 28, from 9;10:45 a.m. and funeral service will be at 11a.m., all in Chandlers' Funeral Home, Liverpool, Dr. Harry Gardner officiating, assisted by Rev. Dennis Nickerson. A private family committal will take place in Pinerest Cemetery, Greenfield. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to North Queens Nursing Home, Pinerest Cemetery Fund or to the Canadian Blood Services.
