Effie Adele Arenburg 2008 Halifax Chronicle Herald >From the collection of Charlene Veinotte Effie Adele Arenburg, 97, Lunenburg, completed her life's journey at Harbour View Haven Home for Special Care, Lunenburg, on Tuesday, May 27, 2007. Effie, a daughter of the late John Ernest and Bernice Margaret (Hubley) Strothard, born in Yarmouth on August 12, 1910, was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by her daughter, Philomene (Bernard) Baker; granddaughter, Carol Ann (Richard) Mosher, and great-granddaughter, Sarah, all of Lunenburg; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceaased by her husband, J. Lewis Arenburg; infant granddaughter, Mary Jane; sisters, Catherine (Vernon) Wilkie, Clarice (Stuart) Parks, and Jean (Harold) Crouse. Effie was a faithful member of St. John Anglican Church, serving for 25 years on the Chancel Guild and was also a member of the Ladies Aid. She was a resident of Harbour View Haven Home for Special Care for the last eight years where she enjoyed her extended family. Friends are invited to share their memories of Effie with her family during visitation at Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, Lunenburg, on Friday from 7-9 p.m. Funeral service to celebrate Effie's life will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in St. John's Anglican Church, Lunenburg, Rev. Michael Mitchell officiating. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Lunenburg. Flowers from the immediate family only. Memorial donations may be made to St. John's Anglican Church, Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, Harbour View Haven Home for Special Care or to a charity of your choice.
