Matthew LeRoy Whynot 2005 Halifax Chronicle Herald >From the collection of Charlene Veinotte Matthew LeRoy Whynot, 32, Port Medway, passed away suddenly Thursday, September 8, 2005 in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Liverpool, he was a son of Arnold and Nora Whynot of Port Medway. Matthew was employed as a machinst at Lunenburg Foundry and Engineering. He was involved as a volunteer firefighter for 14 years where he became the Fire Chief of Port Medway and District Fire Department. He was also a medical first responder and a medical trainer for St. John Ambulance. He was a wonderful, caring person, always willing to lend a hand to those in need. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Surviving, besides his parents, are his fiancé, Amanda; daughter, Emma; sister, Pearl, Bridgewater; brothers, Wade (Holly), Danesville; Mark (Kimberly), Pleasantville; nephew, Nicholas; nieces, Candace and Rebecca; maternal grandmother, Violet Wolfe, Milton; many cousins. He was predeceased by paternal grandparents, Freeman and Stella Whynot and maternal grandfather, Hastings Wambolt. Visitation will be this evening from 7-9 p.m. in Chandlers' Funeral Chapel, Liverpool. Funeral service will be Sunday, September 11, at 3 p.m. in Port Medway Baptist Church, Rev. Douglas Porter officiating. Burial will be in Holy Redeemer Anglican Cemetery. Flowers from the immediate family only. Donations may be made to any charity.
