Violet Marie Zinck 2003 Halifax Chronicle Herald Published: Saturday, February 15, 2003. >From the collection of Gwen Christie Violet Marie Zinck, 92, Halifax, passed away peacefully February 13, 2003, in Northwood Centre, Halifax. Born in East River, she was a daughter of the late Alonzo and Grace (Gates) Baker. She enjoyed gardening, hooking rugs, making quilts, and embroidery work. She worked many years at Jost Misssion as a pre-school teacher. She was a member of St. Philip's Anglican Church, Halifax and the Ladies Guild, Hlaifax. Surviving are her husband, Wilfred James Zinck, Halifax; son, Donald (Elaine), Hamilton, Ontario; daughters, Joyce (Denis) James, St. David's, Ontario; Barbara (Bill) Scoville, Simm's Settlement; Judy (David) Nickerson, Halifax; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sister, Irene; brother, Clarence. Cremation has taken place under the direction of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home, Halifax. No visitation by request. Funeral service 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 18, in St. Philip's Anglican Church, Halifax, Rev. Canon Duanne Tanswell officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Arthritis Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or any charity.
