Graham Lovitt Burrill 2003 Halifax Chronicle Herald Published: Wednesday, April 9, 2003. >From the collection of Gwen Christie Graham Lovitt Burrill, 85, passed away in Raynardton, April 5, 2003. He was born and raised in Yarmouth and went to sea at age 18. Ships took him to Venezuela during war time with the Merchant Marine. He spent much of his career as chief engineer on tankers and freighters on the Great Lakes. His experience was used to his advantage as a commissioning engineer on the new 700 foot Hall Corp. boats, built in Sorel. After retirement in 1970, he and his wife, Evelyn, bought 60 acres of lakes and woodland in Raynardton and moved into their new home in Raynardton overlooking the Tusket River. He is survived by daughter, Jane, Brampton, Ontario; son, Kenneth, Kingston, Ontario; four grandchildren. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. today in Sweeny's Funeral Home, Yarmouth. A private interment will be held in Tusket Cemetery, where he will be joining his predeceased wife. Donations to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia would be welcomed and appreciated by the family.
