Vernie Matilda Cleveland 2003 Halifax Chronicle Herald Published: Saturday, August 30, 2003. >From the collection of Gwen Christie Vernie Matilda Cleveland, 87, Shoreham Village, passed away Thursday, August 28, 2003 in Shroeham Village, Chester. Born in Blandford, she was a daughter of the late Enoch and Annie (Burgoyne) Zinck. Vernie was a member of the Seaside Seniors Group and a founding member of the Blandford Fire Department Auxiliary. She was also a member of St. Barnabas Anglican Church Guild. She is survived by sons, John (Madelene), Big Tancook; Gordon (Ella Mae), Oromocto; daughter, Annie (Wendell) White, Blandford; sisters, Letha (Hugh) Davidson, Quebec; Kate (Burnard) Coolen, British Columbia; Elsie Cleveland, Fox Point; grandchildren, Tina and Peter Weaver, Maine; Leia and Erik, Oberg, South Caroline; Laura Gates, Blandford; great-grandchildren, Keleigh and Isaac Weaver, Maine; She was predeceased by husband, George Cleveland; brothers, Josiah and James; son-in-law, Gilbert Gates. The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday, September 1, in Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home. Funeral service 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 2, in St. Barnabas Church, Blandford, Rev. Randy Townsend officiating. Burial to be held at a later date. Family flowers only. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Barnabas Church Furnace Fund.
