Shirley Jane Rice 2002 Halifax Chronicle Herald Shirley Jane Rice, 65, Bear River, Annapolis County, died Sunday, October 27, 2002, in the New Halifax Infirmary, QEII. Born in Boston, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Hattie (Meldrum) Langdon. She lived in Boston for many years as well as Mexico before moving to Nova Scotia. She was employed by MT&T for a number of years and prior to her death was an active participant and officer with the Telephone Pioneers. She was a member of All Saints Lutheran Church, Newcombville. She was keenly interested in arts and crafts, homemaking, and caring for others. Surviving are husband, Fred, Bear River; stepchildren, Susan (Ralph) Croft, Tim Rice, Bridgewater; Douglas (Rachel) Rice, Bear River; Darrin (Debbie) Rice, Paradise; Scott (Susan) Rice, Bear River; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Ruby (Donald) Shultz, Boston; nieces, Betty Sampson, Nancy (Carl) Andrews, Boston; sister-in-law, Alyce (John) Feindel, Halifax. Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in R.A. Corkum Funeral Home, Wileville. Funeral service 1:30 p.m. Thursday in All Saints Lutheran Church, Newcombville, Rev. Willis Ott officiating. Burial in Lone Pine Cemetery, upper Branch. Flowers will be accepted. Memorial donations may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
