Adelaide "Avis" Selig 2003 Halifax Chronicle Herald Published: Tuesday, August 12, 2003. >From the collection of Gwen Christie Adelaide "Avis" Selig, 68, Westfield, Queens County, passed away Sunday, August 10, 2003, at home. Born in Westfield, she was a daughter of the late Hastings and Rosella (Therieau) Mansfield. Along with being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker, she worked for a number of years as a nurses aid at the North Queens Nursing Home. She was a member of Westfield United Baptist Church. Avis enjoyed volunteering at the Westfield Community Hall, baking, making Christmas wreaths, knitting, and bingo. She is survived by daughters, Enid St.Louis, Dartmouth; Ann (Mrs. Herbert Dolliver), Bonnie (Mrs. David Joudrey), Victoria (Mrs. Jerry Burke), all of Westfield; sons, Glenn (Cathy), Ricky, both of Westfield; Terry (Ann), Pleasantfield; sister, Erma Frail, Westfield; brothers, Denton (Virginia), Lunenburg; Arley (Iris), Westfield; 14 grandchildren; three step grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Gerald; sons, Jeffrey, baby Selig; grandson, Cody; sisters, Theresa, Nancy; brothers, Lawson, Clinton, Marvin, and John Sterling. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, August 13, in Chandlers' Funeral home, Liverpool. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, August 14, in Westfield United Baptist Church, Rev. Daniel Walton officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Community Cemetery, Westfield. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to the Victorian Order of Nurses, North Queens Fire Department, North Queens Medical Centre, Bikers' Association of Halifax or a charity of choice.
