Born in Liverpool, she was a daughter of the late Bertram J. and Pearl M. (Dexter) MacNeil. Karen worked at Bowater Mersey Paper Company for 30 years in various positions, most notably secretary to the president. After leaving Bowater, she had various other employment opportunities before taking the "plunge" into, what would seem to be "her calling," a seniors' boarding home. In her spare time she loved tending to her beautiful gardens. She was a member of Arbutus Chapter No. 30, Order of the Eastern Star and was past member of the Queens County Garden Club. She is survived and sadly missed by her only daughter, Michele (Darrell) Richards; grandchildren, Jessica and Justin; her brothers, Bertram Jr. "Bert" of Thompson, Manitoba; William "Billy" (Anne) of Conquerall Mills; nieces, Erin, Amber, and Melanie; nephews, Tyler and Tyson. She was predeceased by her brother, David. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers' Funeral Home, Liverpool, where visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. and a memorial service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, December 13. A private family burial will follow in Zion United Cemetery, Payzant Street. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to Queens General Hospital Foundation or The Lodge that Gives.
