H. Norwood Turner 2001 Halifax Chronicle Herald Published: October 29, 2001. >From the collection of Gwen Christie H. Norwood Turner, 87, Millville, Kings County, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family, Saturday, October 27, 2001, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Fraxville, he was a son of the late George and Agnes (Keddy) Turner. Norwood moved to the valley in 1930 and owned and operated a mixed farm in Lovelace Corner. He also had been employed with Walkinson Construction, Scotian Gold, and Standard Paving before retiring in 1981. His greatest love and pastime was working with his oxen and attending ox pulls and cattle sales. Surviving are his wife, Gladys (Swinamar) Turner; daughters, Leitha (Aubrey) O'Toole, Irene (Calvin) Saunders, Katherine "Kitty" (Ivan) Coleman, all of Cambridge; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great great-granddaughter; sisters, Leitha Jones, South Alton; Kathleen Hiltz, Fraxville; stepsons, Charles (Wanda) Martin, Peter (Angel) Martin, Paul (Coleen) Martin, all of Berwick; stepdaughter, Sandra (Chris McPhee) Trites, Greenwood; six step-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Emma (Doherty) Turner; a great-granddaughter in infancy; brothers, Wallace, Lester, Byard, Walter, Grant; sister, Elizabeth Hiltz. Visitation 7-9 p.m. today, funeral service at 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 30, both in H.C. Lindsay Memorial Chapel, Berwick, Rev. Judith Saunders officiating. Burial in Black Rock Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations in memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, Canadian Cancer Society, or Intensive Care Unit, Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville.
