Floyd Desmond Stoddard 2000 Halifax Chronicle Herald Published: Wednesday, June 21, 2000. >From the collection of Gwen Christie Floyd Desmond Stoddard, 81, Dartmouth, died June 19, 2000, in the Dartmouth General Hospital. Born in Wood's Harbour, he was a son of the late Desmond and Etta (Sears) Stoddard. He joined the army in 1941, travelling around the world. He served in the Second W orld War and the Korean Conflict, as well as serving in Egypt in peace keeping missions. He retired in 1967, after 25 years service. Surviving are his wife, the former Margaret Nicholson; daughter, Sheila, Dartmouth; son, William, Lake Echo; brothers, Alfie, Clarence, Wood's Harbour; sisters, Ella, Greenwood; Hilda, North Carolina; two grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brother, Keith; sisters, Fern, June. Memorial service 2 p.m. Friday in Atlantic Funeral Home, Dartmouth. Burial in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
