Evelyn May Dorey 2008 Halifax Chronicle Herald >From the collection of Charlene Veinotte Evelyn May Dorey, 86, Martin's Point, passed away peacefully Sunday, January 27, 2008, in Fishermen's Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg, surrounded by her family. Evelyn was born August 8, 1921, in Western Shore, and was a daughter of the late Stanley and Susan Sawler of Western Shore. She is survived by sons, Max (Jane), Martin's Point; Ronald (Donna), Middle Cornwall; daughter, Vivian (William) Verge, Martin's Point; brother, John Sawler, Bridgewater; sister, Irene (Selvin) Rafuse, Western Shore; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, George (Jack) Dorey; sons, Lawrence, Everett in infancy; daughter, Diane Hupman; brothers, Gilbert, Lester, Lawrence, Sydney, and Franklyn; sisters, Elsie Wentzell, Arliene Aulenback, Rosalie Walker, and Idella Sawler. Evelyn was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed gardening, feeding the birds, spending time with family and friends, and meeting new people. She is well known for her hand-hooked rugs, which were a favourite pastime of hers since childhood. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all of her family. Visiting hours will be 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in Mahone Funeral Home, Mahone Bay. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday in St. Mark's Anglican Church, Martin's Point, Rev. Bonnie Baird officiating. Burial will be in Western Shore Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Harbour View Haven, St. Mark's Anglican Church or any other charity.
