Edwin A. Wentzell 2007 Halifax Chronicle Herald >From the collection of Charlene Veinotte Edwin A. Wentzell, 87, Beach Meadows, died January 6, 2007, in Queens General Hospital with family at his side. Born in Beach Meadows, he was a son of the late William Henry and Lettie Ellen (Wolfe) Wentzell. He first started working with his father as a carpenter and together they built many homes in Brooklyn and Liverpool. He also worked at the Bowater Mersey Papermill for a few years and then went to work for himself running a mik ranch, turkey farm, and a logging operation over a span of 40 years. After retiring, he spent his time fishing, lobstering, gardening, and managing his woodlots until the age of 83. He was a member of the local IOOF, Emmanuel United Church, Brooklyn Marina and Hilltop Seniors. Edwin will be fondly remembered for his kindness, his generous nature and his willingness to help family and friends. He will be sadly missed by many. Surviving are his wife, the former Mildred Kathleen Purdy; daughters, Joanne Daniels (David), Beach Meadows; and Pauline Whynot (Andrew), Mahone bay; grandchildren, Matthew, Jessie, and Jared. He was predeceased by his brother, Gordon. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Mahone Funeral Home, Mahone Bay. Family graveside service will be held at a later date in Malagash, Cumerland County. Donations in his memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or The Lung Association.
