OBIT # 9537 - UNKNOWN PAPER - 3 APRIL 1949 Middle Musquodoboit - One of the oldest and most highly respected citizens of Middle Musquodoboit, Mrs. Mary White passed away at her home here early Monday morning, April 2 after an illness of eleven and a half years. Mrs White would have been 88 years old on May 14 and was born at Upper Musquodoboit. After her marriage to Samuel White she came to Brookvale where they lived until 1914 when they moved to Middle Musquodoboit where they have made their home. Although confined to her home by illness for over eleven years during which time she was tenderly cared for by members of her family , she took a keen interest in all affairs of the community and was especially interested in hearing about the work of the Church. Mrs White was a member of Middleton United Church and as long as her health permitted, she was a regular attendant. Her husband predeceased her 28 years ago. Surviving are four sons and four daughters; Milton, Brookvale, Matthew J., Melvin and Warren of Middle Musquodoboit, Grace (Mrs John MacDonald), Boston, Mabel, on the staff of Queen Elizabeth High School, Halifax, Emma and Edith at home. Also one sister Mrs Jennie Campbell, West Acton, Mass, 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. The funeral was held from Middleton United Church on Wednesday afternoon with Rev. L.P.Archibald officiating. The many beautiful floral tributes bore silent testimony to the high esteem in which Mrs. White was held. Pallbearers were five grandsons, Munroe White, Graham White, Ira White, Douglas White, and Lloyd White and a nephew, Ronald Butcher. Interment was in United Church Cemetery.
