Eric Eugene Cross 2004 Halifax Chronicle Herald Publication date: Monday, August 9, 2004. >From the collection of Gwen Christie Eric Eugene Cross, 88, East Port Medway, passed away Thursday, August 5, 2004, in North Queens Nursing Home. Born in East Port Medway, he was a son of the late Harry and Blanche (Dagley) Cross. Eric was a ship's carpenter in the Merchant Navy, served in the Royal Canadian Air Force during the Second World War and later worked as a carpenter until he was forced to retire when he lost his eyesight due to glauoma. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Mersey Branch No. 38, Liverpool and Wesley United Church in East Port Medway. He is survived by his daughter, Patsy Cross (Stan Lorenowich), Montreal; sons, Dennis, Liverpool; David (Judith), Newcombville; grandchildren, Christopher and Suzanne; great-grandchild, Machaela; sister, Dora Hatt, Liverpool. He was predeceased by his ex-wife, Inez (Wheeler); sister, Ethel; brothers, Gerald, Laurie, Harry, and Paul. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers' Funeral Home, Liverpool. A memorial service will take place Wednesday, August 11, at 2 p.m. in Wesley United Church in East Port Medway, followed by a reception. Rev. Karen Ohrt will officiate. Committal will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wesley United Church, Canadian National Institute for the Blind or a charity of your choice.
