Lucille Marie Russell 2000 Halifax Chronicle Herald Published: Thursday, November 9, 2000. >From the collection of Gwen Christie Lucille Marie Russell, 76, 122 Brunswick Street, Yarmouth, died November 8, 2000, in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born in Wood's Harbour, she was a daughter of the late William George and Laura Gladys (Goreham) Mahoney. She was formerly Town Clerk of Yarmouth and later worked for the Yarmouth School Board until her retirement. She also served as a Justice of the Peace. In 1967, she was awarded a Canadian Centennial Medal in recognition of her service to the town. She was a member of Beacon United Church and the Yarmouth Hospital Ladies Auxiliary;also served her church and community as a Sunday School teacher, member of Beacon Church, Board of Stewards, Yarmouth Minor Hockey, Yarmouth Arena Commission and the Canadian Cancer Society. She is survived by her husband, Jack, Yarmouth; brother, Maurice (Becky) Mahoney, Yarmouth; close nephew, Bill (Marilyn) Mahoney, Cole Harbour, and their children, Melissa and Derek; nephews, Randy (Kim) Mahoney and Jerry (Cheryl) Mahoney, Yarmouth, John Mahoney, Ontario; nieces, Laura (Randy) Muise, Yarmouth; Mary Ann Mahoney, Ontario. She was predeceased by brother, Gerald (Virginia) Mahoney and sister, Kathleen. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Sweeny's Funeral Home. No visitation by request. Funeral 3 p.m. Friday in Beacon United Church, Yarmouth. Rev. Leslie Robinson and Rev. A.D. "Bill" Newell officiating. Burial in Yarmouth Mountain Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or any charity.
