A tragedy in the lobster fishery off Morden, January 16, 2003, claimed the life of 26 year old Benji Tate Waybret, Clam Point, Cape Sable Island. Born in Shelburne, July 7, 1976, Benji was the youngest son of Cecil Waybret and Gayle (Smith) Waybret. Benji was a lobster fisherman for six years and was a member of the crew of the vessel "Pretty Knotty," along with Curtis Jones and Rick Spencer. He was a member of the "Hurricane" hockey team, played ball for the "Young Guns" softball team and was an avid golfer. Benji was also known to spend many enjoyable hours in front of his computer. He was especially fond of his kittens, Mookie and Gracie. Besides his parents, he is survived by brothers, Randy (Paula), Northeast Point; Trent (Yvonne), Clyde River; nephew, Luke; niece, Brittany; maternal grandmother, Helen Smith, Arcadia; many aunts and uncles. He was predeceased by paternal grandparents, Matilda and Timothy Ross; maternal grandfather, Melvin Smith. Visitation with friends and family will be held in Huskilson's Funeral Home, Barrington, 7-9 p.m. today with a memorial service 2 p.m. Thursday. Family flowers only.
