Lawrence C. Murphy 2000 Halifax Chronicle Herald Published: Friday, June 23, 2000. >From the collection of Gwen Christie Lawrence C. Murphy, 92, Dartmouth, passed away Wednesday, June 21, 2000, in Dartmouth General Hospital. Born in Northwest Cove, he was a son of the late Lemuel and Mary Jane (Setters) Murphy. He was a fisherman for many years and he also sailed on the Foundation Vigilant, deep see dredging. He retired from the Angus L. MacDonald Bridge at the age of 69 years. He is survived by daughter, Idella (Penny) Favier, with whom he resided for the past 35 years; Sharon, Ottawa; Albert, Halifax; nephews, John Murphy, Mill Cove; Lemuel Murphy, Bedford; special friend, Stephen Hodder. He was predeceased by his wife, Dora Winters; brother, Orville; sister, Winnie; daughters, Ethel Bowen and infant daughter, Effie. He was well loved and will be greatly missed by grandchildren, great-grandchiHoren, and many friends. Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today in Dartmouth Funeral Home,QueenStreet, from where funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the IWK Grace Health Centre.
