Elizabeth Louise Conrad 2007 Halifax Chronicle Herald >From the collection of Charlene Veinotte Elizabeth Louise "Betty" Conrad, 86, Lunenburg, passed away Thursday, December 20, 2007, in Fishermen's Memorial Hospital. Born in Lunenburg, she was a daughter of the late John and Hilda (Conrad) Crouse. Betty married in 1942 to Marshall Conrad; their happy life together was suddenly saddened by the loss of their only child, David Marshall, in a drowning accident with two of his friends in September, 1967. Although life was never to be the same without their beloved David, they carried on sharing their life and their love and did many wonderful things together. In 1978, they moved to Newton, Massachusetts, where Marshall worked in the building industry and remained there until 1979, returning back to retire to Lunenburg in 1979. They continued their travels together, going to Florida where they spent their winters in Venice and enjoyed many cruises to southern countries, enjoying another milestone in their life together. In March of 2004, Betty lost her beloved husband, Marshall, who passed away after failing health. She remained in her home, her life continued on, however, her heart was with him. Betty was a member of Central United Church, Lunenburg, where in her earlier years she taught Sunday School. She will be deeply missed by so many. Betty will be lovingly remembered by her brother, Arthur and his wife Sylvia Crouse, Halifax; sisters-in-law, Phylis and her husband Warren Mosher, First South; Lucille Himmelman, Evelyn Crouse, and Jean Crouse, all of Lunenburg; many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Marshall, and son, David; brothers, Basil and Lawrence. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, Lunenburg, where a service to celebrate Betty's life will be held Sunday at 2 p.m., Rev. Robert Zinck officiating. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.
