Mary Ann Nettie Turner 2011 Halifax Chronicle Herald Published: Tuesday, December 6, 2011. >From the collection of Gwen Christie Mary Ann Nettie Turner - It is with great sadness that the family of the late Mary Ann Nettie (Levy) Turner announces her passing at her home on Saturday, December 3, 2011. Born in Black River, Kings County, she was a daughter of the late Freeman and Lexie (Atwell) Levy Sr. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Aldon; sons, Clay (Wendy Fuller), Lake Ramsay; Allan (Nadine), Hebb's Cross; daughters, Laura (Rick) Turner, Lake Ramsay; Daisy (Donald Lenihan) Turner, Leville; grandchildren, Amanda Turner (Pat Ferenette), Kyle Turner (Jillian Zinck), Dillon Turner, Courtney Reeves (Kris Coolen), Dexter Reeves, Kaylyn Turner, and Keegan Turner. She is also survived by sisters, Joy (Dr. Andrew) Yethon, Burlington, Ontario; Jane (Ralph) Pick, Truro Heights; Gladys (John) Saltzman, White Rock; brothers, Freeman (Violet) Levy Jr., Greenfield, Kings County; Henry "Hank" (Donna) Levy, Black River; Leonard (Mildred) Levy, Black River; sister-in-law, Donna Munro, Coldbrook. She was predeceased by brother, Nathan "Nate" Levy, Black River. Mary Ann attended school in Black River before her studies at Mack's Business College, Kentville. She worked at the Bank of Nova Scotia, Kentville before moving to New Ross, where she has resided for the past 49 years. She took great pride in caring for her family, always putting their interests and concerns above her own. She was well-known as an excellent cook and a quality wreath maker, two activities in which she took a great deal of pride. She was most proud of being a caring and devoted grandmother to her seven grandchildren and her "adopted" grandchildren, Edward Fuller and Olivia Lenihan. Visitation will be held from 12:30-2 p.m. on Thursday, December 8, in Serenity Lindsay Funeral Homeamhapel, Wolfville, directly followed at 2 p.m. by the memorial service with Rev. Valeria Rhymes officiating. Interment will take place following the service in Christ Anglican Church Cemetery, New Ross. By request, flowers from immediate family only. Memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, Multiple Sclerosis Society, Atlantic Division, New Ross Christ Anglican Church, or to New Ross Volunteer Fire Department.
