Louis John Wentzell 2007 Halifax Chronicle Herald >From the collection of Charlene Veinotte Louis John Wentzell - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Louis John Wentzell, 74, Feltzen South, on February 25, 2007, in Harbour View Haven Home for Special Care, Lunenburg. Born in Feltzen South, he was the eldest son of the late Austin and Mabel (Myra) (Corkum) Wentzell. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Louis began his career with Imperial Oil on the M/V Esso Knoxville at the age of 19. He later went to work for the Lunenburg Foundry where he spent 25 years as a diesel mechanic. In 1980, Louis retired his mechanical career to pursue his passion for the sea as a lobster fisherman, until a stroke in 2000 prevented him from continuing. In his leisure time, Louis enjoyed gardening, doing crosswords, working in the woods, hunting, reading, and being with his family. Surviving are his wife of 46 years, the former Madelyn Zinck; daughters, Kathryn Myalls, Rose Bay; Karen Wentzell, Berwick; son, Tim (Nancy), Feltzen South; grandchildren, Mikaela and Dylan Myalls, William and Laura Hoskins, and Emily Wentzell. He was predeceased by brother, Roy and stepfather, Emerson Corkum. There will be no visitation at the funeral home by family request. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday in St. John's By the Sea Lutheran Church, Feltzen South, Rev. Willis Ott officiating. Burial in Feltzen South Cemetery. Family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, Harbour View Haven, Canadian Diabetes Association, St. John's By the Sea Lutheran Church or any charity.
