Harvey Docitee Surrette 2003 Halifax Chronicle Herald Published: Thursday, February 13, 2003. >From the collection of Gwen Christie Harvey Docitee Surrette, 90, Veterans' Place, Yarmouth, formerly of Pubnico, died Tuesday, February 11, 2003. Born in Yarmouth, he was a son of the late William and Mary (Brown) Surrette. Harvey was a veteran of the Second World War. He was employed as a cook on a scallop dragger for many years. During his retirement, he enjoyed wood crafting. He is survived by his wife, the former Evernell Atkinson, North East Point; stepdaughter, Shirley (Robert) Messenger, South Side; three step-grandchildren by his first marriage, stepsons, Neil (Yvonne) Townsend, Lower Clark's Harbour; Kenneth (Jennifer), North East Point; Richard (Joanne), Doctor's Cove; James (Pam), Wood's Harbour; stepdaughters, Bessie (Terry) Nickerson, Nancy (William) Cottreau, Brenda (David) Cottreau, Peggy (Brian) Jacquard, Wedgeport; Elizabeth (Allen) Dickerman, Kansas; Rose (Grant) Henerveld, Annapolis Valley; 17 step-grandchildren; six step great-grandchildren by his second marriage; brothers, Arthur Brown, Annapolis Valley; Walter, Wilbert, Joe, Pubnico; sisters, Jane D'Entremont, Doris D'Entremont, Freda D'Entremont, Pubnico. He was predeceased by his first wife, Ethel; stepson, George; brothers, Joseph, Howard, Richard; sister, Ada. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. today, Friday and Saturday in Huskilson's Funeral Home, Barrington. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, February 16, in Huskilson's Memorial Chapel, Barrington, Rev. Shaun Hatfield officiating. Interment will be in River Dale Cemetery, River Head. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia, Veterans' Place or a charity of choice.
