Reginald Weldon Oxner 2006 Halifax Chronicle Herald >From the collection of Charlene Veinotte Reginald Weldon Oxner, 82, Riverport, passed away Tuesday, December 19, 2006, at home. Born in Lower LaHave, he was a son of the late William and Emily (Tremills) Oxner. Reg served in the Second World War with the Merchant Marines and after the war he worked in Halifax with Western Union on the cable ship, the Cyrus Field, and later with Riverport Seafoods. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 24, Bridgewater, the Canadian Merchant Navy Association and a member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Rose Bay. He is survived by his sons, Weldon (Karel) Oxner, Dartmouth; Dwayne (Audrey) Oxner, Smith Falls, Ontario; daughter, Iris Oxner, Clayton Park; brother, Raymond (Marjorie) Oxner, Lower LaHave; sisters, Evelyn Madden (Otis Mosher), Dayspring; and Ethel Brunelle, Halifax; grandchildren, Kari (Adam), Robin, David, Gillian, and Genevieve; and great-granddaughter, Adrienne. He was predeceased by his brother, Harvard. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, Lunenburg, where a service celebrating his life will be held Saturday at 2 p.m., Rev. Kenneth Wild officiating. Interment will be in Lower LaHave Cemetery. Flowers from the immediate family only. Memorial donations may be made to Lower LaHave Cemetery or to any other charity.
