Joel Robert Boylan 2005 Halifax Chronicle Herald Published: Monday, May 9, 2005. >From the collection of Gwen Christie Joel Robert Boylan, 19, Martock, formerly of Wile Settlement, Hants County, died May 6, 2005, as a result of a motor vehicle accident. Born in Windsor, he was a son of Jim and Healther (Leopold) Boylan, Martock. Joel was a 2004 graduate of Avon View High School, Windsor. He was an avid snowboarder having competed in half-pipe nationally and internationally and he was the Canadian Snowboarding Honda Element Tour Half-Pipe Champion for 2004. He was a member of the Canadian Snowboard Federation Project 2010 Development Athlete Program aiming for the 2010 Olympics. Joel was employed in his family's business at Ski Martock. Joel was well-known and had a vast number of friends through school, work, and snowboarding. Besides his parents, he is survived by brother, Joshua; maternal grandmother, Lillian Leopold (Mason) and paternal grandmother, Eileen Boylan (Payzant), both of Wile Settlement; paternal great-grandparents, Alice and Bill Lane, Hantsport; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and special friend, Lindsay Forgeron. Joel was predeceased by grandfathers, Clarence Leopold and Emery Wile; and by his namesake, great-grandfather, Joel Payzant. Visitation will be held today from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Lohnes-Beazley Family Funeral Home, Windsor. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 10, in Windsor United Church, Rev. Bill Gibson officiating. Interment in Lower Vaughan Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Children's Wish Foundation or to charity of your choice.
