Theodore Leon Keddy 2000 Halifax Chronicle Herald Published: Thursday, June 22, 2000. >From the collection of Gwen Christie Theodore Leon Keddy, 78, Upper Kennetcook, and formerly of truro, passed away in Fishermen's Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg, on June 21, 2000, after a short battle with cancer. Affectionately known to many as "Bub," he was born at the Forties on June 18, 1922, the son of the late Edward and Loretta (Bezanson) Keddy. He worked for John Ross and Sons in Truro for 41 years. He was partner in Keddy Christmas Tree Company of the Forties for 40 years. While living in Truro, he met and married Margaret Griffin, New Glasgow. Bub was a member, past master and past district deputy grand master of the Masonic Lodge 43 AF&AM, Truro. He was a chartered member of Norwood Lodge 135 AF&AM, New Ross. He was also a member of the Shriners. Bub and his wife enjoyed retirement living in their country home in Upper Kennetcook and frequent travels. Besides his wife, he is survived by sister, Frances; brother, Douglas, both of the Forties; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Seaward, Lloyd, Gordon, George; sisters, Florence (Fancy), Alberta (Rhodenizer), Doris and Rhena. Visitation will be held in Colchester Community Funeral Home, Truro, today from 7-9 p.m. with a Masonic Lodge 43 tribute service at 8 p.m. Visitation will also be held in Lindsay's Funeral Home, New Ross, on Friday from 2-5, 7-9 p.m. with Norwood Lodge 135 tribute service at 7:30 p.m. A funeral service will be held in St. Augustine's Church, the Forties, on Saturday at 2:30 p.m., with a graveside service in St. Augustine's Cemetery and reception to follow at the Forties Community Centre. Donations in memory may be made to St. Augustine's Anglican Church Cemetery Fund or the Canadian Cancer Society.

Mrs. Estella Whynott 1947 Aylesford, November 4- Following an illness for the past five months, the death occurred Wednesday morning of Estella, daughter of the late Gilbert and Racheal Burgoyne. She was born at East Dalhousie 30 years ago. Besides her husband, she leaves one son, Raymond, 13; seven sisters, Effie (Mrs. George Delisle), of Agawam, Massachusetts; Mary (Mrs. Arthur Dorey), of Springfield; Grace (Mrs. Arthur Crouse), of Springfield; Mrs. Priscilla Wiles, of Hemford; Etta (Mrs. Edgar Meldrum), of Halifax; Inez (Mrs. S.E. Meldrum), of Aylesford; and Miss Eva Burgoyne, of Agawam; and three brothers, Howard, of Cherryfield; Clayton, of Hemford; and Wilbert, of Alberta. Remains are resting at Lindsay's Funeral Home, Berwick. Funeral service will be held Friday at 2 o'clock from the United Baptist Church, Rev. J.A. Jardine conducting the service. Interment in the Community Cemetery.

Blaine Newman 2008 Halifax Chronicle Herald >From the collection of Charlene Veinotte Blaine "Alfie" Newman, Bridgewater, on May 17, 2008, at the age of 61, went gently into the night, surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband, father, and son of wife, Wanda (Kushner), son, Jake, and mother, Peggy. Born in Sydney on November 30, 1946, he grew up in Halifax and graduated from St. Patrick's High School and Dalhousie University (B. Sc.) He resided in Bridgewater for over 35 years and was most recently the owner/operator of Mac's Mini Mart. He loved life and liked nothing better than to canoe on a quiet lake at dusk. He enjoyed listening to the blues, cabinet-making, travel, fine foods, good scotch, his home, and his family and friends. He was a wise man, with a wry sense of humour and always wore a smile. For many years he was an active member of the Bridgewater Kinsmen Club and until recently, sat on the board of directors of the LaHave River Credit Union. He was predeceased by his father, Ralph Newman. In addition to his wife, son, and mother, he is survived by his brother, Patrick (Carol); sister-in-law, Susanna (Jim); brothers-in-law, Frank and Mike; mother and father-in-law, Helen and Frank Kushner and numerous nieces and nephews. As per Alfie's wishes, his body has been cremated and there will be no visitation. Memorial service will be held today at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Bridgewater, Father Louis Cassie officiating. Short reception to follow in the Bridgewater Kinsmen Hall. No flowers by request. Donations may be made to the South Shore Public Library, South Shore Regional Hospital Palliative Care Unit or a charity of choice.

She was a member of St. Stephen's Anglican Church, Chester. Ivy was a "hockey mom" and an avid fund raiser for Chester Minor Hockey for many years. Ivy was a mom and nanny to many. Surviving are her husband, Arthur; son, Tommy (Shelley), Chester; daughter, Valorie Rafuse-Bond (Clinton), Chester Basin; granddaughters, Brittany, Sara, Melissa, and Jessica; grandson, Jason; sisters, Muriel Boutiler, Halifax; Vergie (Ivan) Collicutt, Canaan; foster sister, Betty (Marshall) Fleet, Timberlea; brothers, Basil (Marion), Berwick; Lowell (Donna), Ontario; several nieces and nephews. Born in Danvers, Massachusetts, he was a son of the late James and Attilla (Porter) Nestor. He worked at O.C. Frost & Son boat shop in Port Maitland for 33 years and previous to that was a farmer. He is the last surviving member of his immediate family. Surviving are his wife, the former Fay Frost; daughter, Valerie (Earl) d'Entremont, Hebron; son, Gregory, Chegoggin; four grandchildren. He was predeceased by his stepfather, John McCormack. Cremation has taken place. Born in 1908 in East Dalhousie, Kings County, she was a daughter of the late Freeman and Mary Robar. She was an adherent of St. Paul's United Church. She was an avid card player, attending many games until recently. She is survived by sons, Malcolm and wife Jen Marshall, Rocklin; Albert and wife Florence Marshall, Westville; daughters, Mary Marshall, Westville; Ria and husband Lou MacLeod, Niagara Falls; Linda and husband Greg Pelerine, Stoney Creek, Ontario; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. Born in Prospect, she was a daughter of the late George Sr. and Margaret Viola (Christian) Coolen. She resided in Prospect until moving to Lower Northfield in 1984. Regina was a former employee of Sears. She was admired for her humour, strength, and positive attitude throughout her three and a half year battle with ALS. She enjoyed her life, her family, and socializing with friends both near and far. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Special thanks to the nursing staff of the 4th. floor at South Shore Regional and also Dr. J. Livingstone.     3. Cecil F. Robar 2002 Halifax Chronicle Herald Cecil F. Robar, 86, Evergreen Home for Special Care, Kentville, formerly of Lake Paul, died December 19, 2002. Born in Dalhousie, he was a son of the late Freeman and Amelia (Arenburg) Robar. He drove a lumber truck many years ago and in his later years worked in the woods for Robar's Pulp and Logging. He had a great love for the outdoors and enjoyed his woodpile more than anything after his retirement. He received great pleasure from giving and a special joy giving to his grandchildren. He will be remembered as a gentle and kind man. He was a wonderful father, grandfather, and friend. Cecil was predeceased by his beloved wife, Dona Loretta (Taylor); infant daughter, Carrollyn; brothers, Ernie, Guy, Obie, Les, Albert, Burleigh; sisters, Lena, Ruby, Etta. Over the years, Myrtle operated a general store in Halifax and cared for children in her own home, while spending much time raising her family. She was a very skilled seamstress and created many beautiful clothes for family and friends. She enjoyed making handiwork, while sewing, knitting, and crocheting. Myrtle was a member of St. Bartholomew's Anglican Church, Middle LaHave and while living in Lunenburg attended St. John's Anglican Church. Lane Memorial Building, QEII. Born in Lower LaHave, Pearl was a daughter of the late John and Lillian Eisenhauer. After graduating from the Nova Scotia Teachers College, Pearl accepted a post in a one-room schoolhouse in Tantallon where she met and married Robert Dauphinee (now deceased). She taught in the Tantallon area until her retirement, by which time she had taught over 75 percent of the children and adults then residing in the community. Surviving are her son, Hugh Dauphinee and wife Doreen, Halifax; son, Robert Dauphinee Jr. and wife Patricia, Lunenburg; daughter, Sharon Jones and husband Burnley, Halifax; son, Neil Dauphinee, Tantallon; brothers, Cecil Eisenhauer, United States; Harry Eisenhauer, Alberta; Irvin Eisenhauer, Ontario. Pearl loved and was much loved by her six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert H. Douglas Store in Caledonia, and housekeeper at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church Rectory in Halifax until her retirement in 1998. She is survived by her niece, Carol Gould, Bridgewater; nephew, Gary Rhindress, Courtenay, British Columbia; great-nieces, Vicki (Leo) Blinn; Lori Gould; great-nephew, Michael Drew (Sandy and Nikki O'Melia); great great-nephews, Daniel and Stephen Blinn, all of Bridgewater; special friend, Father Jack Hayes, Dartmouth. He was past president of RCAF Association, Valley Wing 107; member of Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 98, Kingston; and past member of the Middleton Lions Club. He was a sign painter and owner of Tom's Signs Unlimited. Lowe, 44, Liverpool, passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 21, 2000, in Queens General Hospital, Liverpool, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Liverpool, he was a son of Walter Lowe, Lunenburg and Deanne (Carver) Lowe, Brooklyn. He was a carpenter for most of his working life and was employed with Arnoldin Form Work of Halifax. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, traveling, tying flies, and was an exceptional card player, especially cribbage. He was a loving husband to his wife, Janice (Malone); a loving father to his children, daughter, Nicole, Middleton; and son, Walter, at home. He will be sadly missed by his sisters, Judy Rhyno, Labelle and Peggy Gardner, Sandy Cove and his brothers, Larry, Mill Village and Blake, Sandy Cove; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Frank. Elvin James Conrad 2003 Halifax Chronicle Herald Published: Thursday, November 13, 2003. >From the collection of Gwen Christie Elvin James Conrad, 75, First South, passed away Wednesday, November 12, 2003, in Fishermen's Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg. Born in First South, he was the son of the late Simon and Vera (Lohnes) Conrad. In his earlier years, he worked as a mechanic with Lunenburg Foundry and Engineering; later he drove the school bus for the Municipality of Lunenburg for 17 years. Elvin was also a self-employed truck driver and backhoe operator who worked as a subcontractor with the Department of Transportation. He was a member of First South United Church, an elder, member of choir and former member of Board of Stewards. Elvin was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He is survived by his wife, the former Elva Zinck; sons, Leslie, Wayne, both of First South; grandchildren, James and Charlene. He was predeceased by sister, Marguerite and grandson, Matthew Conrad. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, Lunenburg, with visitation 7-9 p.m. today. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday in First South United Church, Rev. Grace Caines-Corkum officiating. Interment will be in First South Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First South United Church, First South Cemetery or to a charity of choice.

Dexter, 43, of Liverpool, formerly of Lower Sackville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 21, 2009, at home. Born in Liverpool, she was a daughter of Smith and Ellis (Malone) Anthony. Joanne worked at Halifax Shipyards in the accounting department. She loved music and walking the beach. Surviving besides her parents are her son, Nicholas of Dartmouth; sister, Evie (Barrie) Clark of Lower Sackville and brother, Paul (Sandra) of Milton, Ontario. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers' Funeral Home, Liverpool, where a memorial service will be held Friday, March 27, at 11 a.m., Rev. Judy Cross officiating. Joel Robert Boylan 2005 Halifax Chronicle Herald Published: Monday, May 9, 2005. >From the collection of Gwen Christie Joel Robert Boylan, 19, Martock, formerly of Wile Settlement, Hants County, died May 6, 2005, as a result of a motor vehicle accident. Born in Windsor, he was a son of Jim and Healther (Leopold) Boylan, Martock. Joel was a 2004 graduate of Avon View High School, Windsor. He was an avid snowboarder having competed in half-pipe nationally and internationally and he was the Canadian Snowboarding Honda Element Tour Half-Pipe Champion for 2004. He was a member of the Canadian Snowboard Federation Project 2010 Development Athlete Program aiming for the 2010 Olympics. Joel was employed in his family's business at Ski Martock. Joel was well-known and had a vast number of friends through school, work, and snowboarding. Besides his parents, he is survived by brother, Joshua; maternal grandmother, Lillian Leopold (Mason) and paternal grandmother, Eileen Boylan (Payzant), both of Wile Settlement; paternal great-grandparents, Alice and Bill Lane, Hantsport; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and special friend, Lindsay Forgeron. Joel was predeceased by grandfathers, Clarence Leopold and Emery Wile; and by his namesake, great-grandfather, Joel Payzant. Visitation will be held today from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Lohnes-Beazley Family Funeral Home, Windsor. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 10, in Windsor United Church, Rev. Bill Gibson officiating. Interment in Lower Vaughan Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Children's Wish Foundation or to charity of your choice.
