She was the head of Environmental Service and Maintenance at North Queens Nursing Home, Caledonia, where she was a beloved and well-repsected employee for over 25 years. Sharon loved her little dog, Bear, gardening, knitting, socializing, and visiting her many friends and family. She was a member of Caledonia United Baptist Church. She is survived by her son, Vance of Stettler, Alberta; sisters, Gail (Paul) Fancy of Westfield; Paulette (Arden) Doak of Fredericton; Lynn (Stephen) Martin of Bridgewater; brothers, Larry (Valerie), Leigh (Catherine), both of Maitland Bridge; many nieces and nephews. Born in Armagh, Northern Ireland, he was a son of the late James Victor and Jane (WALKER) LEWIS. He was educated at the Portora Royal School, Enniskillen County, Fermanagh, Ireland. He received his medical degree from Trinity College, Dublin, Ireland. He served in the Second World War as a member of the Royal Canadian Medical Corps. He practised medicine in England before coming to River John in 1963. He was a member of St. George Presbyterian Church, River John and a member of Pictou County Kennel Club and the Canadian Bloodhound Club. Surviving are his wife, the former Sybil Vera PATTISON; two sons, Walter Patrick, Edmonton; Noel James, Halifax. The body is at Coulter's Funeral Home, Tatamagouche. Born in Kentville, she was a daughter of Jack and Wanda (McDow) Crouse. Brittany was a 12th. grade student of Forest Heights Community High School in Chester Grant where she competed on the school basketball team and the New Ross Senior Women's Soccer team with many of her friends. She was one of the smallest players on her team, but the mightiest. She was looking forward to graduation and her summer working with her stepdad, Peter, as a painter. For the past three years she worked for Subway in Chester. Brittany touched the lives of many people and will be dearly missed by many family and friends. Besides her parents, she is survived by sisters, Stephanie Crouse (Scott) and Alicia Crouse (Mike), both of Chester; maternal grandparents, Marilyn and Waldo McDow, New Ross; paternal grandparents, Perry and Leah Butler, Granville Ferry; many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She will be missed by her special pet, Cuddles. She was predeceased by her infant brother, Shawn and paternal grandparents, Sylvia and Donald Crouse. He had also been employed at the Glooscap Arena, Canning; for five years; as a commissionaire with Acadia University, Wolfville for several years; and as a labourer on Otis Jess' farm, Port Williams. He also served with the West Nova Scotia Regiment and was a former member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Kings Branch 6, Kentville. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and enjoyed sports. Brig. Gen. George Power Morrison, (Ret'd) 1995 Halifax Chronicle Herald Published: December 21, 1995. Brig. Gen. George Power Morrison, (Ret'd), RRCA, CBE, CD - 100, Chester, died December 16, 1995, at home. Born in Quebec, he was a son of the late Michael and Mary (Power) Morrison. He celebrated his 100th. birthday in Chester on June 12, 1995, with congratulations received from Queen Elizabeth II, Governor General Romeo LeBlanc, and Prime Minister Jean Chretien among many others. At the time of his death, he was the oldest living graduate of Royal Military College, Kingston. He was commissioned as a lieutenant in the Royal Regiment Canadian Artillery in 1915 and served with the Canadian Siberian Expeditionary Force in 1919. He was promoted to captain in 1920 and served as gunnery instructor in Halifax in 1924. In the 1930's, he served as a staff officer in various positions and was employed with NRC and NDHQ in Ottawa as well as RMC in Kingston. He was promoted to brigadier in 1942 and retired in 1951. He had a distinguished military career spanning the First World War and the Second World War and received the Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire in 1944 and the Canadian Forces Decoration in 1950. He was widely recognized as one of North America's top ballistic experts. Surviving are half-sister, Mts. Captain Murray T. Webber (Ret.) 2005 Halifax Chronicle Herald >From the collection of Charlene Veinotte Captain Murray T. Webber (Ret.), 80, Bridgewater, passed away peacefully in Harbour View Haven Home for Special Care, Lunenburg, on September 8, 2005. Born May 5, 1925, in Chester Basin, Murray was a son of the late Maxwell and Greta (Bauchman) Webber. Murray was a veteran of the Second World War, serving with the RCAF for three years. After the war, Murray attended the University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, for two years. He then returned to the RCAF where he served for 27 years, retiring with the rank of Captain. Upon retirement, he moved to Bridgewater where he worked for Michelin Tire for 13 years as a security officer. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Muriel (Hirtle); sons, Craig (Debby), Lawrencetown; Byron (Janice), Fredericton; daughter, Eileen (Howard) Demone, Bridgewater; sisters, Joyce Rogers, Edmonton; Betty (Dean) Eisnor), Chester Basin; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brother, Malcolm. Visitation will take place on Sunday, September 11, from 7-9 p.m. in Sweeny's Funeral Home, Bridgewater. Interment, attended by family members only, will take place at 11 a.m. on Monday, September 12, in Brookside Cemetery. The funeral service will take place in Bridgewater United Baptist Church, Rev. Eric Campbell officiating. A reception will follow in the church basement. The family has requested, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia, IWK Health Centre Foundation, Harbour View Haven or charity of donor's choice.
George Neville Barnhill 2006 Halifax Chronicle Herald Published: Friday, December 8, 2006. >From the collection of Gwen Christie George Neville Barnhill, 87, Mersey Point, passed away peacefully Wednesday, December 6, 2006, in Queens General Hospital, Liverpool. Born in Fort Lawrence, he was the son of the late William and Georgina (Chapman) Barnhill. George served in the Canadian Army Service Corps from 1939-1946, serving overseas for six years as a Warrant Officer II and also in charge of movement and control of troops in the United Kingdom during the Battle of Britain, the Blitz, and through to the end of the war. He had the duty of bringing 365 Canadian War Brides and their children to Pier 21, Halifax, and was the only Canadian soldier on board, at the end of the Second World War in 1946. On discharge, he entered the motion picture business in London, England before coming back to Canada in 1959 and going to work for the National Film Board of Canada, where he worked in all aspects of the film business, before retiring in 1983 and coming to Queens County. He was a 3rd degree Mason of Canada Lodge No. 3527, London, England, a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 38, Liverpool and also a member of Trinity Anglican Church, Liverpool. He is survived by his wife, Greta; stepdaughter, Lisa Parnell (Keith Nickerson), East Port Medway; stepson, Brian (Sharon) Parnell, East Port Medway; son-in-law, Dale McKnight, Calgary; grandchildren, Kristen, Cindy, Michael, Steven, Robert, and a great-grandson. He was predeceased by daughter, Gillian McKnight. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers' Funeral Home, Liverpool. A graveside memorial service will be held Saturday, December 9, at 2 p.m., in Trinity Anglican Cemetery, Liverpool, Rev. Arthur Nash officiating. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to Queens General Hospital Foundation or a charity of choice.
