Mary was born in Mahone Bay, October 4, 1909, the only child of the late John and Harriet (Westhaver) Keddy. Educated in Mahone Bay, she then went on to graduate from Normal College in Truro to get her teaching degree. She furthered her education by obtaining her bachelor of arts degree from St. Mary's University, Halifax. Mary was a knitter for the Red Cross Society during the Second World War. She also worked with the Home and School Associations and Teachers Study Club for many years. Mary is survived by her loving daughter, Sister Jean Aulenback, Marriotsville, Maryville; her loving stepdaughter-in-law and special caregiver, Donna Leopold. Also surviving are her many stepgrandchildren and step great grandchildren. Mary was predeceased by her first husband, Creighton Aulenback, Farmville; her second husband, Wallace Leopold, New Ross; her third husband, Harold Shay, Hlaifax; fourth husband, Russell Crane, Chezzetcook; fifth husband, Jack Anderson, Yarmouth. Mary was a kind and loving lady who wanted to help anyone who needed it and she gave of herself in an unassuming way. Mary will be missed by all who had the privilege to know her. Visitation 7-9 p.m. Monday, September 1; memorial service 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 2, Father Gordon MacLean officiating, both in Atlantic Funeral home Chapel, Dartmouth. She is survived by daughters, Cora (Mrs. Lorraine Lewis), Pleasant River; Peggy (Mrs. Calvin Frail), Ilene (Mrs. Randall Freeman), both of Westfield; 12 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchildren.     3. OBIT # 9572 - UNKNOWN PAPER - August 1918 The Rev. William Prescott Archibald, D.D., passed away suddenly at the Victoria General Hospital last night at seven o'clock. He was born in Musquodoboit. He took a B.A. at Dalhousie in 1872 and his M.A. from the same university in 1878. In 1888 he received his degree of B.D. at the Presbyterian College in Halifax and his D.D. in 1911. He had been ordained in 1875, serving first in Prince Edward Island. In June 1878, he married Miss Minnie Ramsay. In 1904 he became pastor of the Presbyterian church in Springside, Upper Stewiacke where he remained until a short time before his death. His death will come as a great shock to his many parishoners and friends and Springside will mourn the loss of a loving friend and teacher.

He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Clementsport. He was an avid gardener and loved the outdorrs. He is survived by his wife, Jean (McGill) Hiltz and they were the love of each others lives for over 60 years; sons, Michael, Halifax; Donald (Laura), Mississauga; Derick, Bowmanville, Ontario; sisters, Edna, Halifax; Doris, Port Colbourne, Ontario; brother, Aubrey, Martin's Point; two grandchildren. She was a lifetime member of St. John in the Wilderness Anglican Church, New Germany, where she was a member of the choir for 75 years. She also served with the Altar Guild and was a former ACW. She was a lifetime member of New Horizons Senior Citizens Club, New Germany and past member of the Rebekah Lodge. Surviving are her daughter, Norma (Freeman) McClary, New Germany; granddaughter, Christa (Jeff) Rosevear; grandson, Chad; great-granddaughter, Kendra Amy Rosevear; sisters, Meda Whynot, Windsor; Elsie Veinot, New Germany; Edith Poole, Caledonia; and Margaret Ward, Bridgewater.     3. Frank H. Howard 1978 Bridgewater Bulletin Frank Meisner passed away peacefully at the D.H. Hospital, February 22, 1978. Born in New Germany, he was the son of the late Samuel and Mary (Ramey) Meisner. He was a devoted husband and father and a good neighbour. He is survived by his wife, Amy (Tipert) and one daughter, Norma (Mrs. Freeman McClary) and one grandson, Chad. He was predeceased by three brothers. He was a member of the New Horizon Club. The funeral service was held Saturday, February 25, with Rev. Gordon Rigby, assisted by Rev. William Chard. Interment was in the church cemetery. The pallbearers were Dr. J.B. Crowe, George Zwicker, Bruce Veinot, Foard Robar, Chester Robar, and Maynard Varner.

Born May 20, 1949, in Bridgewater, he was the beloved son of Myrtle (Sarty) Kehoe, Middlewood and the late Donald Kehoe. He was employed with Off Shore Recruiting Services at the time of his illness. His friendship became very special with Anglican clergy, Father Gary Alcock and it gave him great comfort during his long illness. He will be greatly missed by his special friend, Ubu. The loving care from nursing staff of the palliative care unit, as well as Dr. Abriel's help and support, made his stay in the hospital the best it could be. Besides his mother, he is survived by his daughter, Georgia, Bedford; his son, Don, Mahone Bay; sisters, Patricia (Charles) Sweeny, Green Bay; Donna (Gary) Jollimore, Hunt's Point; lady friend, Verlene Himmelman; two nephews and two nieces. A public graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday in Middlewood United Church Cemetery, Middlewood, Father Gary Alcock officiating. A reception will follow in Middlewood United Church Hall. There will be no visitation in the funeral home by request. No flowers by request. Born in Martin's River, he was a son of the late Emmerson and Florence (Nauss) Keddy. Wesley had been employed at Berwick Bakeries Limited and later as a salesman for P-Med Supplies Limited and Atlantic Wholesalers Limited. He was an active member and had held various offices with the Berwick and District Lions Club, Valley Lodge 90, AF&AM, Berwick, and several Masonic lodges of the Scottish and York Rites, the AAONMS, Philae Temple, Halifax, as well as the Eastern Valley Shrine Club. He had served as the Deputy Grand Master of Masons for Kings District. He was a member of the Berwick Curling Club and had helped organize many Masonic bonspiels. Wes was an avid golfer and enjoyed sports of all kinds. Several years ago, he had been inducted into the Berwick Sports Hall of Fame. Surviving are his daughters, Beverly Keddy, Berwick; Bernice (George) Haayer, Waterville; Jillian Keddy-Welsh, Wolfville; sister, Pauline (Wallace) Langille, Martin's River; niece, Christine Langille, Martin's River. Veinotte 1948 Bridgewater Bulletin The death of Mrs. Georgina (Gray) Veinotte took place at Halifax at the home of her son, Ronald, where she made her home since her husband's death last November and was lovingly cared for by Ronald and Mrs. Veinotte. Mrs. Veinotte has been in poor health for a number of years following a severe heart attack. Mrs. Veinotte was a daughter of John Gray. Her mother and brother are buried at Parkdale Cemetery. She was 71 years of age. Surviving in the immediate family are Gertie, Mrs. Ettney Oikle, Long Island; Lona, Mrs. Ralph Henley, Northfield, Queens County; Elaine, Mrs. Maurice Daniels, Cataumet, Cape Cod; sons, Everett ,West Milan, New Hampshire; Harold (deceased); Ethan,Peel, New Brunswick; Lorraine, Kingston Nova Scotia; DeWayne, Dalhousie Road; Ronald, Halifax; a large number of grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. One nephew, Earl Wentzell and wife visited Mrs. Veinotte during her illness and possessing a good voice, often joined Mrs. Ronald in singing the hymns she loved. The funeral services were held on Saturday afternoon at the Anglican Church. The Rev. Mr. Neishofficiated. The combined choirs, Anglican and Baptist, sang the hymns of her choice," The Old Rugged Cross," "Peace, Perfect Peace," and "Jesus, Saviour, Pilot Me." The church was filled to capacity with sympathizing friends.

Born in Mahone Bay, she was the elder daughter of the late Frederick and Dorothy (Sarty) Penney. Miriam excelled at athletics and her many achievements in softball, hockey, track and field, curling, and golf earned her recognition as a member of the Nova Scotia Sports Hall of Fame. After graduating from Bridgewater High School, she was one of the first Canadian women bankers working in the Royal Bank, Bridgewater. Later she joined her father in Penney's Insurance Agency incorporating the business after his death, and continued to operate it as president until her retirement. Miriam was a leader in many aspects of her community through her life, Girl Guide leader, Women's President of the Bridgewater Curling Club and the Bridgewater Golf and Country Club, a founding member of the Osprey Ridge Golf Club and Warden of Holy Trinity Anglican Church being among her contributions. She is survived by her sister, Margaret (Jack) Martin; nephews, John (Carole) Martin, Thomas (Sandra) Martin; grandnephews, Travis and Spencer Martin and grandnieces, Rebeca, Emily, and Kathryn Martin. He was a member of the Leisure Hour Senior Citizens Club, Port Saxon, member of Branch No. 148, Royal Canadian Legion where he was proud to take part in the Poppy Campaign. He was a former lighthouse keeper at Half Moons (Salvages), past member of the Port Clyde Fire Department and was a fisherman and an avid duck hunter; he also loved painting and crafts. Before her illness, she was very involved in ventures within the community. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, and crafts. Born in Camperdown, he was a son of the late Oswald and Wilamine (Himmelman) Slauenwhite. Surviving are his sisters, Lydia Reynolds, Halifax; Corrine Conrad, Jessie Ernst, Maitland, Lunenburg County; Genevieve, Little Rock, Arkansas; brother, Verge, Bridgewater; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Aldon, Mervin, Oren, Newton; sister, Ida. There will be no visitation in the funeral home. Memorial service 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in Christ Lutheran Church, Camperdown, Rev. David Whynot officiating. Private family burial at a later date. Family flowers only. Donations to Christ Lutheran Church, Camperdown. Arrangements are entrusted to R.A. Corkum Funeral Home, Wileville.

Thomas Harold Lohnes 2002 Halifax Chronicle Herald >From the collection of Charlene Veinotte Thomas Harold "Tom" Lohnes, 3, of Dartmouth, passed away May 16, 2002, in the QEII Health Sciences Centre, VG Site. Born in Halifax, he is a son of Gladys Conrad (Lohnes), Dartouth and the late Harold Lohnes. He was employed at the Nova Scotia Hospital and was very active in his union (NSGEU). He is survived by his wife, the former Sandra Jackson; daughter, Jennifer; step-daughter, Shelly; step-grandson, Sydney; brother, Roger (Margaret), Lower Sackville. He was predeceased by his beloved stepfather, Lloyd Conrad. Visiting 10:30 a.m. Monday in St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church, Dartmouth, Father Richard Philliposki officiating. Reception will follow in the church hall. Burial in Mount Hermon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
