Miss Ethel Wright 1946 Bridgewater Bulletin Dalhousie East, June 3- Many friends across the continent will learn with saddened hearts of the death of Miss Ethel Wright, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William O. Wright, of Dalhousie East, age 60 years. Miss Wright received her education in Dalhousie public school and after a Normal Course, taught very successfully in Nova Scotia Schools. About 40 years ago she went to the Canadian West to teach. While thus engaged in the prairie provinces, where she was beloved by all, this noble young woman, who had learned in childhood to love the good and shun the evil, felt called by God to preach the Gospel, going out in faith, claiming the promise that all things needed would be supplied to her if she fully consecrated her time, talent, and strength to the service of her Lord and Master. After much prayer and meditation, she made her decision and since that time she has been blessedly happy in her chosen calling, as she has travelled throughout the western provinces of Canada and the United states, telling the old story of the cross. For some years her headquarters has been at Tacoma, Washington. Occasionally she has come home to visit at the old home in Dalhousie East. Her daily life and conversation was a living testimony for God and her face revealed a truly Christian spirit. To know Ethel was to love her. A short time ago, an inoculation for smallpox caused a serious reaction, following which Miss Wright, until then enjoying perfect health, went to Portland, Oregon, for a brief rest. A sudden attack of appendix trouble developed. She was rushed to hospital and everything was done to help her but the appendix had already ruptured and peritonitis ended in death. The tidings of her death came to those who loved her dearly as a great shock on Saturday morning, June 1st. In her love for her fellowmen, who knew not the Gospel, this woman, beautiful in face and in character, has for more than 30 years gone forth, untrammelled by man-made denominational dogmas, her only authority and credentials the divinely given"Get Ye" and the truths of the Holy Writ. Shortly before her death, she said in a letter to the writer of this article, "God has blessed me with wonderful health throughout the years and has supplied my every need. Since I learned to trust Him for everything I have only to follow His leading, knowing He is abundantly able to help me." Miss Wright is survived by two sisters and three brothers, namely, Mrs. Arthur Hume (Mable), of North Bay, Ontario; Mrs. Willard Waterman (Ernestine), of South Brookfield, Queens County; Vernon L. and Clifton O., of Dalhousie East; and Arthur, of Chicago. Deepest sympathy is expressed for all who mourn the loss of a truly noble sister. Miss Wright's father, W.O. Wright, died four months ago. Her mother, formerly Miss Ada Hendry, and a sister, Miss Hazel, a young teacher of ability and endearing personality, died some years ago. The wired message stated that burial would take place in Portland, Oregon. A memorial service will be held here later.
