Mrs. Stella R. Bruhm 1977 Bridgewater Bulletin Mrs. Stella R. Bruhm, widow of Theophilus Bruhm, West Northfield, passed away at the D.M. Hospital, Bridgewater, on Saturday morning, November 26, 1977. Born at West Northfield, the late Mrs. Bruhm, who was 84 years of age at the time of her passing, was the daughter of the late Albert and Alice (Sarty) Feener. She is survived by one daughter, Marjorie (Mrs. Earl Crouse), Cookville; two grandsons, Caroll and James Crouse and one great grandson, Jonathan. Also surviving is one brother, Harold, of West Northfield. She was predeceased by her husband in 1952 and a son, Lester, in 1973. Funeral service was held on Monday, November 28 at 2 p.m. at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church, West Northfield, of which the deceased was a faithful member. Pastor Ralph Keith officiated, basing his sermon on the lesson Romans 8:31-39. Hymns sung were "My Faith Looks Up to Thee" and "What A Friend we Have in Jesus," favourite hymns of the late Mrs. Bruhm. It is of interest that she was organist at St. Andrew's Union Church for a number of years. Pallbearers were nephews, James, Robert, Paul, Lawrence, and George Bruhm and Harris Turner. Interment was in Maple Grove Cemetery, West Northfield.
Theophilus Bruhm 1952 Bridgewater Bulletin Mr. Theophilus Bruhm, a highly respected resident of West Northfield, passed away at his home there on August 3rd., after a brief illness. He was the son of the late James William and Isabel Amelia Bruhm and was sixty-nine years of age. He lived throughout his life at West Northfield and was a faithful member of the Lutheran Church. Surviving are his widow, Stella; one son, Lester and a daughter, Marjorie (Mrs. Earle Crouse); and two grandsons. There also survive one brother, William and four sisters, Mary (Mrs. William Wentzell), of Wentzell's Lake; Lilda (Mrs. Arnold Turner), of West Northfield; and Eva and Libbie, at home. The funeral service will be conducted at the West Northfield Lutheran Church at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday and interment will be in the West Northfield Cemetery.
Roscewell Charles Roop 1949 Bridgewater Bulletin Published: June 22, 1949. The town of Bridgewater was saddened on Monday to hear of the passing of one of its citizens, Roscewell Charles Roop, whose death occurred at the D.M. Hospital, after a lingering illness. A son of the late Israel Wallace and Effie Morrison Roop, he was born in Springfield, Annapolis County on May 19, 1892, but had lived in Bridgewater for the past thirty years. Mr. Roop was an employee of the Canadian National Railway and a member of the Brotherhood of R.R. Conductors. He was also a member of Acacia Lodge, A.F.& A.M. and of the Philae Temple Shrine, Halifax. Mr. Roop was well known throughout the South Shore and leaves many friends to mourn their loss. His wife, the former Bessie Douglas, daughter of Mrs. Agnes Douglas and the late J.A. Douglas, of Caledonia and his sister, Miss Nellie Roop of Charleston, West Virginia are his immediate surviving relatives. Funeral services will be held from the residence on Alexandra Avenue at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, conducted by Rev. D.L.Kennedy, pastor of the United Baptist Church, with which the deceased was associated.
Mrs. E.W. Saunders Handwritten date: January 25, 1901. The death of Mrs. E.W. Saunders which took place on Friday last was unexpected as it was sudden. Mrs. Saunders had been ill about three weeks and under medical treatment which was supposed to be progressing quite rapidly toward regaining her health, when about 2 o'clock on Friday afternoon, she became suddenly worse and died within a few moments. She leaves a husband and five small children to mourn their loss.

Tracy William Simpson 1985 Bridgewater Bulletin Friends and relatives far and near were shocked and saddened to hear of the sudden death of Tracy William Simpson on June 9, 1985. Tracy was born at the Dawson Memorial Hospital, Bridgewater on September 3, 1968. He was the son of Vonnie and Maxine Simpson, Stanley Section; one sister, Kimberly and a nephew, Matthew. He was a Grade 10 student at New Germany Rural High School. Maternal grandparents are William and Grace Colp, Nineveh and paternal grandparents are Claude and Dasiy Simpson, Stanley Section; great grandparents are Mrs. Ila Veinot, Wileville and Mrs. Laura Veinot, Stanley Section. A memorial service was held on June 11, 1985, at Barss Corner Baptist Church, Barss Corner. Rev. Malcolm Beckett and Pastor Wayne Mitton officiated the service and Mr. Dean White, vice-principal of the New Germany Rural High School spoke the eulogy. The church was filled to capacity as family and his many friends gathered to pay their last respects to a son, brother, and friend we all loved. Cremation has taken place with burial at a later date.
Owen Douglas Lohnes 1958 Bridgewater Bulletin The community of Upper Northfield learned with sorrow and sympathy on Friday, January 24th., 1958, of the death of Owen, younger son of Mr. and Mrs. Winslow Lohnes at the age of 27 years, who passed away at the V.G. Hospital after an illnessof five months which he bore with such pateince and fortitude. Four weeks ago on the advice of his physician he entered the hospital for medical treatment. Although he became gradually worse the seriousness of his condition was not realized and death was not expected so soon. His early passing removes a promising young man who will be greatly missed not only by his own family but by a wide circle of friends. Up until the time of his illness, Owen was employed with the Acadia Construction Ltd. and was highly regarded by his employers. He is survived by his sorrowing parents; three sisters, (Helen). Mrs. Harold Silver, Lower Northfield; (Phyllis), Mrs. Basil Joudrey, Upper Northfield; (Marjorie), Mrs. Donald Cook, Bridgewater; and one brother, Lincoln, also of Upper Northfield. His aged maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Lemuel Penney, also survive. The funeral service was held at the Lutheran Church, Upper Northfield on Monday afternoon and was the largest held there for some time. Rev. Donald Himmelman preached a comforting sermon from the text, Psalm 39, verses 4, 5, and 7. Hymns sung were "There is a Green Hill Far Away" and "Our God, Our Help in Ages Past." Interment was in the family lot in the Upper Northfield Cemetery. Pall bearers were Owen's six Lohnes cousins, James, Charles, Gordon, Eldred, Hilton, and Cyril. Owen was engaged to Miss Joyce Veinot and she along with all the members of the family have the sympathy of a host of friends as shown by the profusion of beautiful flowers.

He is survived by his wife, the former Jennie MURRAY; three sons, Richard and Gregory, both of Middle Musquodoboit; Murray, Enfield; one daughter, Dianne (Mrs. Larry JOHNSON), Upper Stewiacke; three brothers, Eric, Welland, Ont.; Earle, Dartmouth; Reg, Upper Musquodoboit; two sisters, Mrs. Hazel LAWLOR, Dartmouth; Marion (Mrs. Woodrow MASKILL), Musquodoboit Harbour; eight grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister, Louise. The body will be in Ettinger's Funeral Home, Middle Musquodoboit after noon today. Mrs. Simeon Nowe 1919 Progress Enterprise Bridgewater Enterprise Column October 4, 1919. The death of Mrs. Simeon Nowe occurred at her home, Conquerall Mills, on Saturday morning. She had been ill for nearly two years, suffering from cancerous growth. About three weeks previous to her death, she became paralyzed and nearly unconscious. Besides her husband she leaves four sons, John, George, at home; Enos at Hebb's Cross; Walter of the Pioneer Regiment who had been in active service at the front but at present on sick leave; and one daughter, Mrs. Allen Fitch at Conquerall Mills. Much sympathy is extended to the bereaved family.
Evelyn Westhaver 1980 Bridgewater Bulletin Evelyn Westhaver, wife of Rev. Clyde Westhaver, of Marmora, Ontario, passed away at University Hospital in London on Sunday, August 17, 1980, following a period of illness. She was in her sixth-first year. Formerly Evelyn Hirtle, daughter of the late Captain Vernon Hirtle and his wife Hilda (Herman), she was born at Mahone Bay. She resided in Halifax until her marriage to Rev. Clyde Westhaver in 1945. She accompanied her husband as they served charges in Newfoundland, the Maritimes, Quebec, and eastern and western Ontario. Always active in the work of the church, she took a special interest in children and youth. In 1976 she graduated from the London School of Nursing as an R.N.A. and worked in a number of nursing homes, more recently at the Centre Hastings Nursing Home near Marmora. She is survived by her husband; one son, Spurgeon (Spud) of London; and by four daughtess, Faith (Mrs. Dwaine McDonald), of Kingston, Ontario; Carol of Toronto; Grace (Mrs. Richard Lemon), of Dundalk, Ontario; and Rose (Mrs. David Mitchell), of London; also by one brother, Rev. Arthur Hirtle, of Toronto. The funeral was held on Wednesday, August 20, from the McConnell Funeral Home and St. Andrew's United Church in Marmora, the Rev. Harold Bailey officiating. Interment was at Woodland Cemetery in London.

IRVING, Kemptown, were saddened on Thursday morning to hear of her passing, at the age of 56 years, after an illness of several months, during which time she was faithfully cared for by her loved ones. In her passing, the home and community suffered a severe loss. Being possessed of a cheerful disposition, she made friends wherever she went and always saw the bright side of everything. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles ARCHIBALD, of Kemptown, and is survived by her husband, one daughter (Alice) Mrs. Kenneth POOLE, three sons, David, Elmer, Roland, all of Kemptown, and eleven grandchildren. Also one sister, Mrs. John MARTIN of Winnipeg, who was with her during her illness, three brothers, Alfred of Kemptown, Alex of New Hampshire, Rhuben, of Kelowna, B.C., and a number of niece and nephews. The funeral service was held in the United Church at Kemptown on Saturday, Aug. 16, conducted by her pastor, Rev. J.A. BRADLEY, and was largely attended by friends and relatives, who came to pay their last respect to one they knew and loved so well. Pallbearers were all nephews of the deceased, Stanley ARCHIBALD, George ARCHIBALD, Charles ARCHIBALD, Russel McAULAY, James McAULAY, Thomas McAULAY. The floral tributes were many and beautiful, testifying to the high esteem in which the deceased was held. Wilford Lohnes 1935 New Germany, May 6- Mr. and Mrs. Carol Lohnes of Upper Northfield have the sympathy of their friends in the passing away on Sunday morning of their only son, Wilford, from complications following scarlet fever. Besides his parents there remain in the home a sister, Jean. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Lohnes and Mr. and Mrs. Nathaniel Lohnes, all of Upper Northfield, are grandparents. The funeral on Monday afternoon was conducted by the Rev. Colin McRae.
