    3. Willis A. Lowe 1944 Bridgewater Bulletin News of the death of Willis Lowe, 17 years of age, came as a severe shock to the entire community and surrounding districts. He had been employed by the Hankinson Lumber Company, operating at Round Lake, Queens County, where he was accidently drowned Monday, June 19. He was the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Archie Lowe, Cherryfield. Willis was a boy of sterling character and beloved by all who knew him. He leaves to mourn their loss his parents, two brothers, Howard and Garfield and two sisters, Betty and Shirley, besides a large number of relatives and friends. The funeral service was held from his late home at Cherryfield on Wednesday, June 21, conducted by Rev. W.A. Harper, of the Lawrencetown Baptist Church. His message was a comforting one to the sorrowing relatives. The hymns sung were "Does Jesus Care?" "Safe in the Arms of Jesus," and "Abide With Me." Interment was in the Springfield Cemetery. Pallbearers were Garfield, Ronald, Clyde, and Garnet Veinott, Sydney and Archie Naugler, all cousins of the deceased.

Leander Acker 1960 Bridgewater Bulletin Funeral services were held in the Baptist Church in Springfield on the afternoon of Wednesday, April 20, for the late Leander Acker, age 58, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. David Acker of Lake Pleasant. Mr. Acker has for some years been suffering from ulcers of the digestive tract, and a few days previous to his death, perforation took place. He lived alone and was taken to Dawson Memorial Hospital, where surgery was done, but his condition was hopeless from the start. He has been a great sufferer. Surviving are two brothers, Ralph of Deep Brook; and Ernest in Middleton; also two sisters, Elsie (Mrs. Comeau), at Lake Pleasant; and Flossie (Mrs. Thomas Butler), of Kingston. Predeceasing him were three brothers, Herbert, Arthur, and Willis. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. F.D. Chase and the pallbearers were Stanley Charlton, Primrose Tufts, Harry Wile, and Burpee Mailman. Hymns by the choir were "Abide With Me" and "Does Jesus Care?" Burial was made in the adjoining cemetery in the family lot, beside his parents and brothers. Mr. Acker was hospitalized for two weeks previous to his death.

Charles Jodrey Berwick- Thirty year old Charles Jodrey of Morristown was killed last night in a highway accident at Morristown when the motorcycle he was riding was in collision with a truck operated by Perley Fredericks Sr. of Somerset. Mr. Jodrey was taken to Western Kings Memorial Hospital in Berwick and died three hours after the mishap occurred. Born at Springfield, he was the son of Ray and Laura Burgoyne Jodrey. Besides his parents, heis survived by his wife, Doris Lutz; one son, Ray; one daughter, Shelley; two brothers, Arnold and Royce, both of Springfield; five sisters, Eileen (Mrs. Franklin Leary), New Germany; Darlene (Mrs. Darrell Robar), Joan (Mrs. Gary Hamm), Patricia and Brenda, all of Springfield. The body is at the H.C. Lindsay Funeral Home, Berwick. Funeral service will be held Sunday at the Morristown Baptist Church. Rev. Nelson Metcalf will officiate. Interment will be in the Morristown Cemetery.

    3. Ray Harold Jodrey 1985 Bridgewater Bulletin Ray Harold Jodrey, 66, Springfield, died Thursday, June 13, 1985, at home. He was born in Stanburne. He was the son of the late Olive (Jodrey) Young. He was a woodsman for Bowater Mersey for thirty years. He served with the West Novies Regiment during the Second World War for four years. He is survived by his wife, the former Laura Mabel Burgoyne; a daughter, Gail (Eileen) Feener, Bridgewater; four step-daughters, Joan Hamm, Darlene (Mrs. Brenton Sproule), and Brenda (Mrs. Wendell Slauenwhite), all of Springfield; Patty Jodrey of Meisner's Section; a son, Arnold of Springfield; a step-son, Royce Joudrey, Springfield; three half-sisters, Edna (Mrs. Leo Veinot), West Clifford; Blanche (Mrs. Robert Silver), Dartmouth; Joyce (Mrs. Les Jackson), Ontario; 18 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Ethel; a son, Charles; three half-brothers, Maynard, Foster, and Bernard Young; and five grandchildren. The body was at Langille's Funeral Home, New Germany. Funeral was held on Saturday, June 15, 1985, at 2 p.m. at the Baptist Church, Springfield, with Rev. David Keith officiating. Burial was held in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Carman Mossman, Mark MacKay, Pearlie Holland, John Rhynard, Ralph Kaulback, and Lemuel Lohnes. The organist was Mrs. Dorothy Mason.

He is survived by his wife, the former Cora Kathleen PINCH; a step-daughter Edith, Vancouver; a step-son, John WHEELER, Vancouver; a brother, John, Tatamagouche; two sisters, Marion (Mrs. Charlie MacGILL), Earltown; Jennie (Mrs. Doug SLACK), Debert. He was predeceased by three brothers, Dan, Hector and Lloyd. The body is in Mattatall's Funeral Home, Truro, where funeral will be 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Rev. George H.     3. Burton Carroll Marshall 1946 Bridgewater Bulletin The death occurred at 8 a.m. on Friday, June 21, at the V.G. Hospital, of Burton C. Marshall, who for the past two years had been a great sufferer, having been confined to his bed for the past one and a half years. In January, 1945, he underwent a major operation at a hospital in Montreal, but medical skill and loving care could not restore his health.During his days of suffering, which he bore with Christian fortitude, he always kept cheerful and greeted his friends with a smile. He was born June 20, 1901, the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. C.R. Marshall of Falkland Ridge. For some time he lived in Halifax, where he was in the employ of J.D. McKenzie but for the past few years he made his home in Middleton, where he was a member of the staff of J.D. McKenzie's Creamery, until stricken with ill health. Besides his sorrowing wife, Mary, he is survived by his aged parents; two brothers, Aubrey at Falkland Ridge; Rowland of Halifax; and two sisters, Marion (Mrs. Laurier Sarty), of Halifax; and Florence (Mrs. Percy Kempton), of Berwick. His twin sister, Eva, passed away in October, 1926. The funeral, which wa sheld from the Baptist Church, on Sunday afternoon, was one of the largest ever seen here, and was conducted by Lic. Aubrey Murphy, pastor of the church, of which Burton was a member. Hymns sung were "Under His Wings," "He Hideth My Soul," and a quartette, Mrs. L. Naugler of Springfield, Mrs. L. Stoddard, Lawrencetown, James Sproule, and Edgar Mason sang "The Old Rugged Cross," a favourite of the deceased. Following the service in the church, interment was made in the family lot in the cemetery at Falkland Ridge. Pall-bearers were Robert MacKay, Francis Mason, Lawrence Starrett, and Frank Sproule. The wealth of flowers testified in a mute way to the esteem in which Burton was held.

Hymns sung were favourites of the deceased, "Unto The Hills," "Breathe on Me, Breath of God," and "We Praise Thee, O God." Pall bearers were Arnold Conrad, James Bruhm, Robert Bruhm, Paul Bruhm, Lawrence Bruhm, and David Bruhm.

Born at West Northfield, she was a daughter of the late William and Isobel (Kelley) Bruhm, and was 79 years of age. Surviving besides her husband are two daughters, Helen, at home; and Ethel (Mrs. Charles Ramey), West Northfield; two granddaughters, Greta (Mrs. Robert Lowe), Bridgewater; Dawn, West Northfield; one grandson, Walton Cook, Lunenburg; two great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters, Lilda (Mrs. Arnold Turner), Elizabeth and Eva Bruhm and one brother, William, all of West Northfield. Funeral services were held at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church, West Northfield, with Dr. C.H. Whitteker officiating. Interment was in Maple Grove Cemetery, West Northfield.

    3. Mrs. Richard S. Lohnes 1912 Progress Enterprise Published: November 6, 1912. Rose Bay and Riverport News The death of Mrs. Richard S. Lohnes took place at Riverport on Monday, the 28th. inst., after a short illness, ages 40 years. Deceased was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Silas Lantz, Pleasantville. She is survived by a husband and six children to mourn the loss of an affectionate wife and mother. The late Mrs. Lohnes was a member of the Methodist Church and was quite prominent in the choir and took an active part in all church requirements. The funeral services were held on Wednesday and were conducted by Rev. Hobbs. THe Ladies Auxiliary and the members of the choir preceded the hearse to the cemetery. The floral offerings were truly beautiful, a tribute to the high esteem in which she was held by a host of friends. The funeral was one of the largest in the community.

Born at West Northfield, he was the son of the late John and Gusanda (Oickle) Turner. A member of St. Andrew's Lutheran Church, he and his wife, Lilda (Bruhm) attended church June 1, 1986, their 68th. wedding anniversary, and spent the day with family and friends. Arnold will always be remembered for his great love of people, his kindness, and his wonderful sense of humour. Pastor Carroll Fritze officiated at the service. The choir sang "The Lord's My Shepherd" and "What a Friend we Have in Jesus." Pallbearers were grandsons, Jackie Turner, Wade Turner, and Gary Zinck; nephews, Robert Bruhm, George Bruhm, and David Bruhm. Ushers were nephews, James Bruhm and Paul Bruhm. The memorial book was attended by great niece and nephew, Joanne Kelly and William Bruhm.

    3. Sydney J. Berringer 1917 Bridgewater Bulletin Falkland Ridge News Published: January 30, 1917. The third memorial service since summer was held in the Baptist Church Sunday afternoon, January 14, in memory of Sydney J. Berringer, another of our brave boys who was killed in action near the close of the old year. During the years that he resided with his sister, Mrs. John Kaulback, he was known as a young man with good habits, quiet, and courteous, liked by everyone. He answered the call of King and Country while in the West and went overseas last spring. Brother J. Webb conducted the service and spoke earnestly and eloquently of the necessity of every citizen "doing his bit." The members of the L.O.L. attended the service in regalia in honour of the second of their lodge to fall in battle. We extend our sympathy and respect to the three sisters, Mrs. John and Mrs. Stanley Kaulback and Mrs. Maud Mosher of Hastings who attended the service.
