Max Haughan 1988 Bridgewater Bulletin Max Haughan, 79, Bridgewater, died October 27, 1988, at Hillside Pines Home for Special Care in Bridgewater. Born at Conquerall Bank, he was the son of the late Frank and Edith (Errington) Haughan, formerly of Newcastle-on-Tyne, England. He is survived by his wife, Olive (Publicover); two daughters, Joan (Mrs. David Chandler), Liverpool; Janet (Mrs. Ron Maddigan), Niagara Falls; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was predeceased by a brother, William and a sister, Nancy. Funeral service was held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Bridgewater, Rev. Willis Ott officiating. Burial was at Brookside Cemetery, Bridgewater. Donations were made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church and Hillside Pines Home for Special Care.

He was a retired construction worker. He served overseas during the Second World War with the North Nova Scotia Highlanders. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Colchester Branch #26. He is survived by his wife, the former Gladys BLACKMORE; five sons, Leo, Elroy, Terry, Larry, all of Nuttby; Ivan, North River; seven daughters, Velma (Mrs. Fred KAYE), North River; Verna (Mrs. Paul CAIN), Truro Heights; Christine (Mrs. Glen HORTON) and Carla, both of Lower Sackville; Eunice, Nuttby; Shelly (Mrs. Robert DAYE), Bible Hill; Gwen, Truro; six half-brother, Ernest MacMASTER, Bridgewater; Walter and Donald MacMASTER, Truro; Robert MacMASTER, Timberlea; Hugh MacMASTER, North River; Frank MacMASTER, Manganese Mines; seven half-sisters, Ethel (Mrs. Almon MILLER), Upper Stewiacke; Mrs. Kathleen McLEARN, Truro; Jean (Mrs. Rufus McCALLUM), Marjory (Mrs. Lester BRYSON) and Marguerite (Mrs. Lyle HARVEY), all of Hilden; Edna (Mrs. Ron CROWE), Truro; Isabel (Mrs. Robert BAISLEY), Moncton; 13 grandchildren. He was predeceased by his father, a half-sister Helen, a half-brother Alfred. The body is in Mattatall's Funeral Home, Truro where funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Blackmore Cemetery, Upper North River. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society or any charity.
Mrs. Samuel Hirtle 1908 Bridgewater Bulletin Published: April 28, 1908. Mrs. Samuel Hirtle, who has been ill for some months, died and buried on the 20th.
Mrs. Solomon Zinck 1948 Death came peacefully to Mary Zinck, widow of Solomon Zinck, of Rose Bay at her home February 29. She had been in failing health for several months, but her passing was not expected so soon. She was in her 86th. year and was born at Rose Bay, where she spent her entire life, a daughter of the late John and Mary Ann (Mosher) Wentzell and she was the last member of that family. She was a faithful member of St. Matthew's Ev. Lutheran Church and until a few months ago, she never failed to attend divine worship each Sunday. She was a life member of the Women's M.S., a member of the Ladies Aid, and always took a prominent part in all activities of the church. Mrs. Zinck had no family; her husband predeceased her about thirteen years ago. A step-brother, Freeman Wentzell, survives; two nephews, Otto and Perry Zinck; and a number of nieces and nephews in the United States; also a host of friends mourn their loss. Two sisters, Minnie, Mrs. Sylvanus Zinck, of Rose Bay and Lizzie, Mrs. Solomon Corkum, of Middle LaHave, later of the United States, predeceased her. Funeral services were held from her church on Tuesday afternoon and were conducted by her pastor, Rev. A.L. Conrad. Interment was at Harbour View Cemetery, Rose Bay.
James Mosher 1944 James Mosher, a highly respected citizen of Lower Kingsburg, passed away at his home early Wednesday morning, March 29th. Mr. Mosher who was nearly 88 years old, had been ill only a few weeks suffering from an ear infection. Deceased was born at Kingsburg, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Mosher and resided there all his life. He was a fisherman-farmer and after retiring from the sea, devoted his entire time to his farm. His wife predeceased him almost four years ago. He is survived by two sons, Howard and Jason, both of Kingsburg; two daughters, Eva (Mrs. Wallace Knock), of Kingsburg; and Inez (Mrs. Cecil Mossman), Rose Bay; three grandchildren and one great grandchild. The funeral was held from his home on Thursday afternoon and was conducted by his pastor, Rev. J.A. Grant of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, of which he was a faithful and valued member. Rev. W.K. Pace of Trinity United Church assisted at the service. Rev. Grant took his discourse from the text," The Master has come and calleth for thee." The hymns sung were "Abide With Me" and "Nearer, My God, to Thee." Pall bearers were Simon Hirtle, Obediah Mossman, Samuel Knock, and Wm. Mossman. Interment was made at Kingsburg.
Mrs. Ellen Gerhardt 1928 Progress Enterprise Published: June 20, 1928. The funeral of the late Mrs. Ellen Gerhardt, Middleboro, Mass., will take place on Friday afternoon from the home of Mrs. Mary Berringer. Interment at Bayport. The remains arrived by train Tuesday.
Allan Ritcey Handwritten date: November 14, 1944. Riverport, November 15- Shortly after midnight on Monday the passing of Allan Ritcey, 57, eldest son of Mrs. Ritcey and the late Captain Ammon Ritcey, occurred at his home after an illness extending over a period of three years. The late Mr. Ritcey was a follower of the sea for the greater part of his life, serving in the capacity of steward on fishing and coastal vessels. Some three years ago, he was stricken with a heart condition and during the intervening years he has had many attacks. He spent several months of the past summer as a patient at the V.G. Hospital, Halifax. He is survived by his mother; three sisters, Geneva, Mrs. Lennox Conrad, Rose Bay, Guelph, Ontario; and Clyde, electrician and lineman, at home. His father, the late Captain Ammon Ritcey, died suddenly at sea in 1917 and a sister, Amy, died the following year. Another sister, Olive, passed away a few years ago. He was a member of Trinity United Church and of Confidence Lodge, I.O.O.F., and his funeral was held this afternoon from his late home and was conducted by his pastor, Rev. W.K. Pace. The members of Confidence Lodge attended in a body and performed their last rites at the graveside. Interment was made in the Harbour View Cemetery at Rose Bay. (The obituary stated three sisters but only listed one living sister.)

Idella Irene Langille 2001 Halifax Chronicle Herald Idella Irene Langille, 85, of Blockhouse, died Monday, March 26, 2001, in Harbour View Haven Home for Special Care, Lunenburg. Born at Parkdale, she was a daughter of the late Frederick and Letitia (Veinotte) Spidle. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was a member of the United Baptist Church, Mahone Bay, where she was also a member of the Ladies Aid, serving as president for thirty years. She was a member of the Women's Institute, Blockhouse and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Blockhouse Fire Department for many years. She belonged to TOPS for 26 years. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Ivan; daughter, Yvonne and husband Wallace Wilkie, Blockhouse; son, Darren and wife Brenda, Blockhouse; foster daughter, Mae and husband Garth Brown, Dartmouth; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by infant son, Douglas; two sisters, Emma and Annie; brothers, Lawrence, Robert, Russel, Charles, Kenneth, and Howard. Visiting 7-9 p.m. this evening in Mahone Funeral Home, Mahone Bay. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday in the United Baptist Church, Mahone Bay, Pastor Aaron Kenny officiating. Roy Josiah Mosher 1978 Bridgewater Bulletin Roy Josiah Mosher, age 78, passed away suddenly at Shoreham Village on August 19, Although in failing health for the past ten years, his death came as a shock to relatives and friends. He was born in Lincoln, New Hampshire April 28, 1900, the son of the late Willard and Edna (Joudrey) Mosher. He was a retired farmer. Surviving are his wife, the former Althea Awalt; three daughters, Edna (Mrs. Ronald Grimm), Parkdale; Melba (Mrs. Glenn Sarty), Bridgewater; and Iris, at home; two sons, Harry, New Glasgow; and Willard, Labrador City; a sister, Violet (Mrs. John Young), Medford, Mass.; a brother, Simeon, Livermore Falls, Maine; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son and a daughter; two sisters, and a brother. The funeral was held on Monday, August 21, at Langille's Funeral Home, New Germany with Rev. John Boyd officiating. Interment was in the Parkdale- Maplewood Cemetery. Pallbearers were Glenn Sarty, Ronald Grimm Senior, Ronald Grimm Junior, Dwight Grimm, Angus Powell, and Karl Stevens. The largel attended funeral, the flowers of remembrance,and memorial donations showed the great respect held for Roy J. Mosher.
Ellis wilbert Rhodenizer 1965 Bridgewater Bulletin Mrs. V.L. Wright has been advised of the passing of her brother, Ellis Wilbert Rhodenizer of Newton, North Dakota on January 12th. at the Minot Hospital. He was the second son of Tupper and Matilda (Rafuse) Rhodenizer of Parkdale. He went west as a young man and lived at Rainy River, Ontario before moving to North Dakota. He studied geology and ran a jewellery store, was mayor several years but having a yen for the open, he became a buyer for the stockyards. His wife (Anna Molgard) and five children survive. They visited the old home in the thirties, his only visit to Nova Scotia after his return from World War I. His father, mother, one sister, and two brothers predeceased him. Surviving are Dr. Vernon of Wolfville; Lester and Milton of Parkdale; Laurin, Maine; Perry, Weld, Maine; Leon of New Glasgow; sisters, Eva at Hantsport; Florence of Dalhousie East; Lauritta of Mahone Bay; Oressa, of Rumford; and Daisy at Hillsborough. Burial was at Newton, North Dakota.
Clark E. Wentzell 1948 Bridgewater Bulletin The community of Maplewood was saddened once more on Sunday, the twenty-ninth day of May, when death claimed Clark E. Wentzell, in his 70th. year. He was a life-long resident of Maplewood. He leaves to mourn the loss of a loving husband and father, his sorrowing wife, who before her marriage was Louise Dorey, of Maplewood, and who tenderly cared for him during his illness; two daughters, Hazel (Mrs. Garfield Oickle), Branch LaHave; Frances (Mrs. Percy Jodrey), Maplewood; two sons, Lyle, Lower Branch; Russell, Andover, Maine. An infant daughter predeceased him thirty-three years ago. There survive also one sister, Elnora (Mrs. E. Poole), Bridgetown; also ten grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. The fuenral which was held at his late residence on Tuesday afternoon was largely attended and was conducted by the pastor, Rev. B.G. Smith, Barss Corner. The pall bearers were his two sons and two sons-in-law. Interment was at Parkdale Cemetery.
Mrs. Wilfred Wentzell 1925 Bridgewater Bulletin At Maplewood, July 5th., 1925, Mrs. Wilfred Wentzell passed quietly away. She was a great sufferer, which she endured in the spirit of the Master. She was a member of the United Baptist Church of Parkdale and Maplewood. She was loved by a devoted family, who ministered to her need during her illness, doing all possible for her comfort. She was a good member of the I.O.G.T. Mrs. Wentzell is survived by her husband; three sons, Murray, Ray, and Cyril; and five daughters, Mrs. Corkum; Mrs. Lyle Wentzell, Vida, Myrtle, and Dorothy. The memorial service was held at the church at Parkdale, conducted by her pastor, Rev. H.E. DeWolfe. Interment in the local cemetery. A large host of friends and the floral tributes spoke in eloquent terms of the place she held in the community. We commend the family to God. We rejoice with our sister that her life is now spent in the presence of her Saviour.

Born at Blandford, he was a son of the late Percy and Dora (Fleet) Publicover. He was a licensed mechanic and worked with Peerless Vulcanizing Limited for a number of years. He also worked for National Fish and Dean's Flowers, Halifax, for many years. He is survived by his wife, the former Marjorie Dorey; a daughter, Marie (Mrs. Tony Zinck), Blandford; a sister, Mary (Mrs. Albert Langille), Fox Point; four grandchildren; a great-grandson. The body is in Davis Funeral Home, Chester, visiting 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday. Funeral will be 2:30 p.m. Thursday in St. Barnabus Anglican Church, Blandford, Rev. Leslie Ball officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
St.Clair William Veinotte 1997 Halifax Chronicle Herald St.Clair William Veinotte, 74, Berwick, died July 30, 1997, in Grand View Manor, Berwick. Born at Newburne, he was a son of the late Willard James and Winnie Idella (Langille) Veinotte. He moved from Lunenburg to Berwick in 1953 and owned and operated S.W. Veinotte Superette in Berwick, which later became Veinotte's Riteway. In 1966, he opened a second Riteway store in Waterville and retired in 1975. He was formerly a member of the Berwick Lions Club and Berwick Curling Club. Surviving are sons, Sheldon, Berwick; Laurie, Kingston; stepsons, Roy Edward Muise, Halifax; Patrick Arthur Muise, Toronto; stepdaughters, Elizabeth Jean Muise, Victoria, B.C.; Anne Marie Muise-Usher, Greenwood; brother, Cecil Vernon, Second Peninsula; sister, Winnie Idella Falkenham, Northwest; three grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Margaret Jean (Beardsley) Muise-Veinotte; a daughter in infancy. Visitation 7-9 p.m. today, funeral 2 p.m. Friday, both in H.C. Lindsay Memorial Chapel, Berwick, Rev. OBIT # 5071 - EASTERN CHRONICLE - 26 AUGUST 1935 MISS ANNIE CUMMING- There died at the home of her niece, Mrs.JOHN ARCHIBALD, Truro, on Sunday. August 11th, ANNIE CUMMING, the last surviving daughter of the late JAMES CUMMING and JANE ROSS of Sunny Brae at the advanced age of 93 years. In full possession of her faculties Miss Cumming was bright and interesting and was able to repeat the whole of the 19th Psalm a fortnight before her death. Her father attended the First General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church which was held in Ottawa, as Commissioner and Ruling Elder for Pictou County. Another daughter was the late Mrs.J.C.MacDONALD of New Glasgow. Resident in New Glasgow are Mr. J.W.C. MacDONALD; his sister, Miss HANNAH MacDONALD and Miss HANNAH SUTHERLAND, nephews and nieces. During her last illness she was tenderly cared for by another niece, Mrs. ARCHIBALD of Truro with whom the deceased made her home. After the death of her parents Miss Cumming lived out west for several years before returning to Truro. She was a woman of fine attainments, sterling Christian character and much beloved not only in family circle but by her many friends and was always a faithful worker in the Presbyterian Church of which she was a life member. After a short service at her home in Truro, the remains were brought to Sunny Brae and a service conducted by Rev. Mr. Brown, assisted by Rev. Mr. Irving of the United Church, was held in the Presbyterian Church. Interment being made at Sunny Brae.
