Dena Velma Ramey 2001 Halifax Chronicle Herald Dena Velma Ramey, 80, 96 North Street, Bridgewater, formerly of Wellington, Queens County, passed away peacefully after a sudden illness in South Shore Regional Hospital, June 25, 2001, lovingly surrounded by family. Born at Wellington, she was a daughter of the late Lillian (Hartling) and Hastings Ramey. She taught school for a number of years and then worked for thirty years as a dedicated secretary with the Department of Agriculture and Marketing in Bridgewater. Dena was a member of Buckfield United Baptist. For the past number of years she also attended Bridgewater United Baptist Church where she was a member of WMS, Ladies Guild, and the Friendship Club. She also belonged to the Women's Institute, Christian Women's Club, I.O.O.F., and bowled for several years in the Lutheran Bowling League. She is survived by sister, Muriel (George) Freeman, Buckfield; brothers, Gordon (Ivy), Greenfield; Irvin (Geraldine), Buckfield. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews who will dearly miss their "Aunt Dena." She was predeceased by brother, Milton. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today in Chandlers' Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Friday, June 29, in Buckfield United Baptist Church, Rev. John Kaulback officiating and assisted by Rev. Tom Harvey. Burial in Pine Rest Cemetery, Greenfield. Brandy was born at Bridgewater on February 21, 1999. Brandy was the daughter of Deeonne Bowman, Pleasant River and Aaron Lohnes, Dayspring. She is survived by her grandmother, Noel Veinot, Pleasantville; grandparents, Charles and Wanda Lohnes, Oakhill; great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Veinot, Kingston; Mr. and Mrs. Everdeen Lohnes, Bridgewater, Mr. and Mrs. Charles D.     3. Isabelle Dorothy Thompson 2001 Halifax Chronicle Herald Isabelle Dorothy Thompson, 60, Pine Grove, passed away peacefully at home, March 6, 2001. Born at Liverpool, she was a daughter of the late Earl and Bernice (Zinck) Thompson. She attended Liverpool High School and studied piano, voice, and violin. Later she attended Acadia University and majored in piano studies. She taught piano lessons in Bridgewater for 25 years. She inspired several of her students to further their music studies at university. She worked as a pastoral caregiver at Hillside Pines Home for Special Care, cheering the living and comforting the dying. She was on the executive of The Christian Women's Club and the Registered Music Teachers' Association of Nova Scotia. she was a member of the Prison Ministry Group and Bridgewater Open Bible Church. Following the death of her husband, Roy Frazee, she married Forbes Thompson whose devoted love, care, and support has helped her during a very courageous fight with brain cancer. Isabelle is survived by her husband, Forbes Thompson; daughters, Joanne Scobey-Sutherland (Thorne), Maitland; Suzanne Blair (Fred), Mount Pearl, Nfld.; Julie-Ann Frank (Blair), Blockhouse; Anne Marie Lee (Chris), Richmond, B.C.; sister, Barbara Thompson Wilson (David), Halifax; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; step-children, Carla, Chris, and Timothy Frazee; John, Linda, Wendy, and Susan Thompson; nine step-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Janet Thompson, Truro; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Roy Frazee; brother, Harold Thompson. Her loving care for all who knew her will be greatly missed. A breeder of Appaloosa horses led him to become the president of the Maritime Appaloosa Horse Club for several years. In more recent yeras, he was an active member of the Atlantic Hackery Association. In his earlier years he was involved with the 4H Club. He is survived by daughters, Beth (Kevin) O'Leary, West Lawrencetown; Jody (Keith ) Fisher, Lake Echo; grandchildren, Dillon O'Leary, Chad, Logan, and Jennifer Fisher; sister, Ruth Darres, Digby; estranged wife, Susan; a niece and a nephew. Letitia Ellen Veno 2000 Bridgewater Bulletin Letitia Ellen Veno of Baker Settlement passed to her Eternal Rest on Sunday, July 9, 2000, at 3 p.m. at the South Shore Regional Hospital surrounded by her family. She celebrated her 100th. birthday August 23, 1999. She was the daughter of the late John and Catherine (Robar) Getson, born in Chelsea and later moving to Baker Settlement where she was a life-long resident. Being of a friendly and kind disposition she will be greatly missed by her family, relatives, and a multitude of friends. Letitia was a member of All Saints Lutheran Church of Newcombville, where she attended services faithfully as long as health permitted. She leaves to mourn her loss three daughters, Norma Zinck, who tenderly cared for her the last two months of her life; Beryl (Dawson Wile); Beatrice (Dana Fancy), all of Wileville; son, Norman (Vivian), of Baker Settlement; also 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Sylvanus in 1980; sister, Ada; half-sisters, Adelia, Laura, Etta, and Lydia; brothers, Ernest and Alvin; half-brothers, Harvey Getson, William, James, and Arthur Garber; two grandchildren, Cathy Zinck and Carolyn Ross. The funeral was held at All Saints Lutheran Church on Wednesday, July 12, 2000, at 1:30 p.m. with her pastor, Rev. Willis Ott, conducting the service. He spoke comforting words using the text 2 Timothy 4:7, selected by Letitia. The hymns "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Ssfe in the Arms of Jesus" were also her selection. Interment was in the Baker Settlement Cemetery. Pallbearers were five grandsons, William and David Fancy, John and Andrew Veno, Henry Wile, and great-grandson, Scott Fancy.

Margaret was predeceased by her husband, George Henry Lucas, in July of 1984. Beloved mother and mother-in-law of Martha and Norman Gibb, Priscilla and Elmer Shaw, all of Calgary; Gloria and Jerry Dahl of Sherwood Park, Alberta; and Garth and Darla Lucas of Brooks; a daughter-in-law, Kaye Lucas of Calgary. She is also survived by 24 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Dana and Beatrice Fancy of Bridgewater; her sisters-in-law, Byleam Fancy, of Holden, Mass.; Bertha Oviatt of Nanaimo; Vera Oviatt; and Celma Oviatt, both of Calgary. Margaret was born at Baker Settlement, Nova Scotia on November 23, 1910. She was the youngest daughter of the late Henry Allen and Mary Priscilla (Crouse) Fancy. Margaret taught school for seven years in Nova Scotia before coming to Stavely, Alberta in 1935 where she met and married George and raised their family. She was predeceased by their son, William, in 1968; a grandson, James Shaw, in 1987; her brothers, Ralph, Spurgeon, Arnold, Earl, Lawrence, Russell, and Byron; and sisters, Florence, Jennie, and Elsie. Funeral service was held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Calgary, on Tuesday, February 15, 2000, with interment in the IOOF Cemetery in Stavely, Alberta.

Born at Riverport, he was a son of the late Roland and Mary (Richards) Ritcey. He served during the Second World War with the Royal Canadian Navy and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 23, Lunenburg. He started his sea-going career with fishing and later was employed as second class engineer on gypsum boats, then with the Bedford Institute of Technology as second class engineer on the Hudson and Baffin. Prior to his retirement, he operated the LaHave Ferry. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He is survived by his wife, the former Margaret "Peggy" MacDonald; daughters, Anne Louise Ritcey-Conrad and husband David, Riverport; Rosalie Sarty and husband Joseph, Hebbville; son, Elliott, Riverport; grandchildren, Matthew and Lindsay Sarty, Hebbville; Christopher and Tyler Ritcey-Conrad, Elliott Ritcey, all of Riverport.     3. John Smith Ramsland 2000 Halifax Chronicle Herald John Smith Ramsland, 82, West Clifford. Born at Grimstad, Norway, passed away Thursday, June 8, 2000. He went to sea at age 16, trained at Camp Norway and served as a gunner with the Norwegian Navy during the Second World War. He married Dorothy Sullivan of Halifax and immigrated to Canada, finally settling in Halifax. He worked at HMCS Dockyard as foreman in the Refridgeration Shop and retired to a country property in the Bridgewater area. He enjoyed international traveling, was an avid reader, and remained a craftsman all his life. One of his great interests was wine making which lead to John graduating from the German Wine Academy in Frankfurt. He was active in many organizations including the South Shore Naval Association, the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 24, Bridgewater, the German-Canadian Cultural Association; the Knights of Columbus; the Norwegian Gunners Association; and the German and Opimian Wine Societies. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; sister, Astrid Hol, Grimstad; his children, Solveig Lenahan and partner Christopher; Kristin and partner Tim Cohoon; Karen and partner Jon Clark; John Erik and partner Iris O'Brien; his grandchidlren, Sean and Kate; niece, Ella Sjerbik, Denmark; nephew, Oivind Hol, Grimstad. He is survived by his wife, the former Mabel STEWART; five sons, Carlon, Tatamagouche; Keith, MacCallums Settlement; Eric, Debert; Alfred, Truro and Bruce at home; five daughters, Gertrude (Mrs. Glynn CROWE), MacCullums Settlement; Maxine (Mrs. Ronald MacKENZIE), Prince George; Judy (Mrs. (...) WILSON) Edmonton; Deborah (Mrs. Glenn MacLELLAN) and Donna (Mrs. Charles WAUGH), both of Onslow; two brothers, Ronald and Alexander, both of North River; five sisters, Elizabeth (Mrs. E.M. GEDDES), Hazel (Mrs. Harry RATH) and Mrs. Beatrice RATH, all of Truro; Mrs. Vera McNUTT, North River and Myrtle (Mrs. Richard STEWART) McClures Mills; 21 grandchildren. Funeral was today, Rev. Brent ROBERTSON officiating, with burial in Aenon Baptist Church Cemetery, Central North River. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Nova Scotia Heart Foundation charity of choice.

    3. Ralph Arnold Brown 2000 Halifax Chronicle Herald Ralph Arnold Brown, 64, Wileville, passed away March 1, 2000, in the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born at New Ross, he was a son of the late Ralph W. (Sr.) and Melba L. (Lantz) Brown. He was an adherent and choir member of the Pleasantville Baptist Church. He was a member of the Royal Camadian Legion, Branch 102, New Germany; he served in the military in Canada and overseas for ten years. He was the co-owner of Brown's Self Storage. He is survived by his wife, the former Glenda Hebb; sons, George (Cathy) and Jeffrey, all of Wileville; daughter, Cyndi (Kevin), Hallowell, Maine; grandchildren, Kelsey, Callie, Melissa, Amy, Mandy, Thomas, Rachael, Nicole; brother, Brad (Emily), Conquerall Bank; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Gloria. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. today in Sweeny's Funeral Home, Bridgewater. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday in the Pleasantville Baptist Church, Pastor Doug Porter officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasantville Cemetery. Immediate family flowers only.
