He was a retired employee of the Colchester Hospital. He was a member and a life elder of St. Andrew's United Church. He was also a member of the Phoenix Lodge for the past 35 years, holding all offices. He was a resident of the Longworth Lodge where he served as treasurer of the Senior Citizens Club. He is survived by his wife, the former Beatrice THOMSON; three sons, James, Moncton; Stanley, Charlottetown; Grant, Dartmouth; a brother, George, West New Annan; eight grandchildren. Cushing, 18, Caledonia, died suddenly as a result of a tragic car accident, on Sunday, January 4, 2004, on Highway 103 near Chester. Born at Bridgewater, she was the daughter of Charles Cushing, Bridgewater and Heather Fancy, Caledonia. Caterina was an outgoing young lady. She attended North Queens Rural High School, Caledonia for 13 years of her precious life. She was the 2001 Queen at the Queens County Exhibition. She was an active member in school and was on the volleyball team, student council, aand safe grad. She enjoyed crafts, music, swimming, drama, and creative writing. She was enrolled in the Business program at the Nova Scotia Community College, Lunenburg Campus in Bridgewater, having received the first entrance scholarship out of North Queens Rural High School. She also worked part-time at N.F. Douglas Hardware. People will always remember her for her radiant smile and her pleasant personality. Caterina's family and friendships were the most important part of her life, plus she had an extraordinary relationship with her nanny, Vivian. Caterina was inspired with the writing of Kahil Gibran,"Trust your dreams, for in them is hidden the gate to eternity." She is survived by her brother, Kyle; maternal grandmother, Vivian (Peter) MacKay, Caledonia; paternal grandfather, Charles, Caledonia; step-parents, Fanny Brown, Bridgewater; Owen Fancy, Caledonia; stepsisters, Aimee and Alyssa; stepbrother, Owen Jr. She was predeceased by her maternal grandfather, Randolph Wagner; paternal grandmother, Lillian Cushing.     3. Laird Roy Arenburg 2003 Halifax Chronicle Herald Laird Roy Arenburg, Truro, passed away September 22, 2003, in The Mira Home for Special Care, Truro. Born August 12,1912, in Stanburne, he was a son of the late Amos and Bertha (Conrad) Arenburg. He started working as a very young age on the family farm, in the forest, and at carpentry. For a number of years he was active as a registered guide and fondly remembered the Guides' Meets at Lake William (now Camp Kadimah). He was employed by Canadian National Railways from 1938 until retirement in 1974, as a locomotive engineer. He often spoke of the many troop and supply trains that he worked from Moncton to Halifax during the war years. Laird was a former member of K40. He was a past master of Truro Lodge No. 43 AF&AM, past High Priest of Keith Chapter No. 4 R.A.M., a 32nd. degree member of the Scottish Rite, a member of the Philae Temple AAONMS and Central Shrine Club, a past patrom of Myrtle Chapter OES. He was a long-time member of St. John's Anglican Church, Truro, and served as warden and in other capacities for many years. Laird loved the outdoors and thoroughly enjoyed the time he spent hunting, salmon fishing on the LaHave, and at his cottage at Lake Mushamush. He also enjoyed playing cards. He was an honest, hard working and jovial man who was devoted to his family. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Margaret (Veinotte); son, David (Marlene), Truro; grandchidlren, Krista Poole, Truro;Trevor Campbell, Powell River, B.C.; Colin Campell, Heidi Sexton, and Josh Arenburg, all of Truro. Born at Newcombville, she was the daughter of the late Banford and Martha (Newcomb) Hebb and wife of the late Carman Bolivar. She was a long-time active member of the Eliot Church of Newton, up until the last two years. She was a regular summer visitor to the Bridgewater area. She is survived by her sons, Wayne W. Bolivar and his wife Beverly of Needham, Mass., and Norman E. Bolivar of Newton. She is slso survived by four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Winnie Whynot, Buckfield; and Kathleen Bolivar, Bridgewater, also many nieces abd nephews in Nova Scotia. She was predeceased by her brothers, Clarance, Curtis; sisters, Bernice, Annie, Vida, Susie, and Mildred.     3. Evelyn Pearl Wagner 2003 Halifax Chronicle Herald Evelyn Pearl Wagner, 84, Upper Branch, died June 17, 2003, at the home of James Barkhouse, Nineveh. Born at Upper Branch, she was the daughter of the late Arthur James and Beatrice Blanche (Conrad) Snyder. She lived her entire life at Upper Branch and was employed by Calvin Snyder Ltd. for 30 years. Surviving are her husband, Ray; brother, Calvin (Helen) Snyder, Upper Branch. Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today, funeral 2 p.m. Friday, both in R.A. Corkum Funeral Home, Wileville, Rev. Willis Ott officiating. Burial in Brookside Cemetery, Bridgewater. Flowers will be accepted. Memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia, Canadian Cancer Society or Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
